    Thanks for the pics.

Maybe Marcel can chime in here but my understanding is 3 lussos were raced this and fhe 2 targa florio cars? Also this is the first production lusso making it hugely significant in my mind. I'm not sure if it was the first ever raced but I believe in a hill climb in belgium. Hopefully someone can say if this is correct or not?

I've seen it for many years race at monterey and its very fast and beautiful. Best of the best.

The first production Lusso is cool, but I really don't understand why there is any excitement about it's period racing history. That was pretty minor stuff. Not like it competed in a championship (hill climb or otherwise) or at Le Mans, etc.

A guy bought a brand new Ferrari and raced it a few (3) times, good on him, but there is nothing more to it.

2 of their former owners told me that the car handles like a dog on circuits...
The Lusso was a true GT-car, nothing less - but nothing more...

Walter: 4213 is VERY fast at Laguna Seca. We race against it in the same class. Each year the car and driver get quicker. I do not know what has been done to the suspension and obviously the engine is pretty highly uprated, but "that Lusso" is not a dog on the race track.

Dyke, I got the statement when the car was in Germany years. At that time suspension etc. was rather standart.

Does anybody know if the car has actually changed suspension etc. or what exactly has been modified?

I was gonna say if this car is a slow dog the same can be said for 250 gto based upon them gentlemanly racing at laguna. Obviously gto can vary widel in performance! Especially at the track, how hard does owner want to push etc.. It also does not look too doggish when it comes out of the andretti hair pin full sideways carrying speed. The exhaust / engine note on track is one of the best and sounds better than the gto's ive seen it race against. My guess is this car will give most gto's a run for their money despite not coming with the race pedigree.

My recollection is that the Lusso engine was rated at 240hp and the SWB at 260-270. Marcel cold doubtless shed light.

Seth: The 250 outside plug street engines were all the same actual power, whether they were installed in a 2+2, SWB or Lusso. They made between 235-240 bhp on the factory dynos. Comp 1960 engines made about 270-280 bhp and the very few Comp 1961 motors were in the 287-296 bhp range.

I am sure Roelofs can get 340hp of a SWB engine. I had 240 on mine , a Stek car although raced in period, but to tell the truth, the car felt underpowered. The year after I drove the LM in Tour Auto, definitely not underpowered, not so much because of the engine but because it's a very light car. On the other side of spectrum, the Daytona Group4 with a Roelofs engine at 486hp at Dyno even in a heavy car, is adequate, as they used to say at Rolls Royce.

Only for people that don't understand classic car racing.

I guess dominating the business world so they can afford these cars generates a certain mindset, sigh.

Thanks. I had that exact watch when I was 12. My father bought about 10 of them for family and friends. I loved it but I fiddled with the chrono flyback buttons so much the hands fell off after a few years. Wish I still had it.
