I have refurbished the fog/indicator lights and came across 3 issues: 1. With the plastic: it seems to be deteriorating over time, as you can see on the first picture, the edges start degrading and something needs to be done to stop this --> I used a primer protective coating to stop this process 2. With the chrome paint inside: this comes off until there isn't any left, resulting in a significant loss of clarity/visibility --> I refinished it with chrome paint 3. A lot of corrosion on the metal surrounding the bulbs --> used rust remover and cleaned it very thoroughly in order to avoid shorts and bad connections. Here are some pics of old vs new Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, years ago I was able to find them on ebay.fr I think they were used on a lot of cars during that time, Renault R12 comes to mind. So you may have an alternative, cheers Paul
Busy with the bumpers these days. I went to the Wurth shop yesterday to get primer and paint suited for these bumpers, but they forwarded me to a car parts & paint shop to get me a number of "bumper spray" cans. So, I've sanded them off and am now putting layer after layer of paint on the bumpers. The metal inside is protected with a zinc coating to prevent corrosion. The bumpers have been painted with bumper spray, but I'm waiting for the wind to lie down before putting on the last layer ... Has been windy for the last 4 days...
Next step has been completed: put in primer, but still a lot of work to be done ... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's what I'll see in a couple of months, standing in my garage QV instead of 8 version of course Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Not yet, paint job will be done by the end of september and i will finish the car by the end of October
The last phase before it gets repainted: all small rust spots have been removed and the use of filler has been reduced to an absolute minimum. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So, the doors have been removed. Next thing is to sand the doorsteps. Then, the front wings will be removed to have a look at the chassis bars that run over the wheel arches. And then finally, by the end of next week, she'll get her paint job Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Will be repainted this week!!!! The chassis bar that runs over the LH wheel has been replaced with a new one I had in stock. In fact, this is a production fault that Mondial 8's and early QV's had: there is an open space of 5-8cm between the top of the inner liners of the front wheel arches and the fenders. Result is that water can reach the unprotected chassis and it starts to rust.

Personally, I have never seen a paintjob this excellent. I've been to many other paint shops before and the quality of the paint and varnish far exceeds what I have ever seen on other cars.
The car finally arrived in my garage yesterday!!! The paintjob nears perfection and I have plenty of work to do in the coming months to finish it! Here are some detail pics of the car. I'm not posting any pics of the full car yet because there are many things that need finishing. Anyhow, I'm sure that when people will see it on events from 2018, they will start drooling ! Personally, this is the most beautiful color I have ever seen on a Mondial. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
