Thank you for all the previous water pump pulley tips and advice. My next hurdle is the a/c compressor, I order a New York style and started to switch clutch and other parts over and it seems the right angle hose adapters and fill ports have a different type of seal from one compressor to another. The old compressor is Aspera and new one is york(but not 100%), has anyone else come across this while changing theirs and what did you do?

    Thank you

The compressor is not correct. Not only are the fittings incorrect but the suction and discharge ports are are not in the correct locations. The original hoses won't fit worth a hoot.

Yes you are going to have issues with mounting and connecting hoses with the ports located where they are . The Aspera is not OEM so seems as if the compressor has already been changed once before?

actually, im guessing if the hoses could even make it that the suction and discharge being reverse will not pump correctly when the belt is turning?? so I need to pull out and change the unit out for correct one?

Not sure about your year car. My 1982 308GTSi used this one as plug and play. No issues runs great. Just make sure LH or RH suction. OEM clutch mated direct.

I would recommend NAPA part # 258108. They call it a rebuilt unit but the last 3 I received were brand new compressors as no rebuilt units were available.

The Aspera was the originally installed compressor up until the late 328's and than came tagged as York. Aspera is basically a York under another name.

Why dont you USA guys change over to the Sanden as used on Euro cars? I believe brackets are available? Even the Chinese Sanden clones work well.

The York unit was also used on the 911.

They are plentiful (or were when new) and now as noted the supply has been used up!

The Sanden is a more efficient unit and less drag on the engine.

Also the York seems like a very big unit, the Sanden is relatively easy to deal with when changing timing belts.

Agreed, most who have converted were quite pleased.

I love to get some brackets for Sanden conversion. Please point the way...
