It has a bit of that soft, satiny look of GF, so perhaps that's a possibility as well.

I think what we're looking at is a photo taken through a polarizing filter which tends to cut down reflections, increase contrast and deepen tones. You can tell by the telltale color rainbows in the headlamps.

As a start, I agree, but what polarisers won't do is create that liquid metal effect to the flanks in particular. That is with contrast and photoshop.

I suspect HDR may have been used as well (which is why the sky is so visible). HDR can be manipulated many different ways to produce standard sRBG color space. Or... I could be wanking wrong :) Maybe the photographer can inform us?

I read again the last EVO drive test of the 812 hoping that some allusion was made about how it's sound compares with any of the predecessors. No luck, the only reference the article makes about the 812 sound is "As ever, it's the sound that hooks you first, and the higher you rev the 812, the more magnificent it gets". Because this description could also be applied to the F12 or the TDF EVO doesn't leave any clue how the 812 compares with the other two.

The EVO test considers the 812 a superb car in almost every department and the only comparison that is made with another car is with the F12 at the very end of the article. There the writer says "the only problem I have with the 812 is the way it looks. After the F12, which was simpler and more classically beautiful, it does seem a touch fussy and a bit aerodynamically complex, especially along the flanks"

Listening to some videos I think the best is : 1)tdf 2)f12 and 3) 812 .... the 812 is quieter than f12 b at start up and ( always from videos ) seems screaming a bit lower than his predecessor at high rpm

Re start-up, I believe they've adopted the same as what's been done with GTC4L

It's very nice, and a bargain indeed :)
One just needs to accept to pay less to get it - fortunately that was not a problem for me since I am cheap.

Thank you for that information and I'm quite surprised with your sound evaluation because Ferrari has publicized so much the upgrades on the acoustics of the 812 and the achieved sound superiority. Model after model Ferrari marketing machine always finds a way of creating that illusion on buyers that the new model is incredibly superior to the previous one in every department.

This is only an opinion from the videos !! We should have the opinion from someone who have driven all three cars in person! However it is always a great challenge, year after year, to do great sounds because of the new law requirements!

It is hard to tell from videos as the noise level on startup is hugely affected by engine/exhaust temperature. If I start my F12 from overnight cold it's VERY loud for about the first 20-30 seconds. Switch off and start it again and it's already quieter. After a 10 minute drive, a restart will be significantly quieter again.
