Eric, I had that condition with one of my fobs. One worked, the other would not. It did not open the doors (unless I stuck the key in and turned it) and it would not get th alarm to disarm. Went to my dealer. Tech plugged the car into his Pc. Took about th minute to reprogram the fob, and then everything worked. Oddly, A week earlier I discovered the heat was not working. Had not brought the car in for that yet. When he fixed the fob, the heat started to work again too. All has been good for 15 months now. Good luck.
Would that inertia switch illuminate the immobilizer light though? Might light is solid as if my fob isn't disarming it and I'm unable to take it through the "emergency start procedure" like the manual says. I tried many times and the light won't flash after 8 seconds. I'll try and give the dealer a call, but they are 5 hours away so I'd like to figure this out myself if all possible before I go that route.
Thanks for the reply. Chicago is the nearest dealer for me and 5 hours away so that's not a easy solution for me. My (2) fobs lock/unlock the doors fine. They just won't disarm the immobilizer and I can't get the "emergency start procedure" to start. I followed the directions from the manual many times but it wouldn't start flashing.
You can call the dealer service manager and they can help sometimes give you some advice. It's worth a shot.
You need someone with an SD3 or Leonardo to read the fault code. Given that the dash light is on something will be stored. No one closer with either?
Have a think about downloading this to a laptop. Outils OBD Facile - Info sur l'OBD, et le diagnostic automobile This will act like an OBD scanner and will read both 430 ECUs plus a lot more. You can download online and for 45 euros etc it has to be worth a try in your circumstances
Had the same problem long time ago when I owned F430, battery of my Key was down and alarm immobilizer did not switch off.
I'm starting to think that might be a possibility. No one in the area can work on immobilizer issues. Only the dealer which is 5 hours away. They offered to come pick it up for ($975 each way). Seriously? I called and spoke with a Ferrari tech. He wasn't much help. Told me to ship the car to them.
If the problem is the immobilizer issue, can just the immobilizer ecu be swapped out and my keys reprogrammed? My keys are new.
Would it make sense to contact an independent shop and pay them to stop by your house to diagnose the issue? The cost of shipping is pretty high and if an independent for say $1000(rough guess) diagnose and hopeful fix the issue, it might be a approach worth trying.
I spoke with all the indi's this morning. They all said that they aren't capable of working on immobilizer issues. Only Ferrari authorized shops can do that.
I'm not sure. The previously owner bought new keys for it before I bought it from him (1.5 years ago).
Late to thread, and don't know if 430 same as 360 F1, but is the engine bonnet completely closed? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am not sure. If you look at the errors from the last post (picture didn't get included here), you seem to have a CAN Bus error. In modern cars the various systems communicate with each other over the bus, and perhaps the immobilizer is not receiving what it needs from other modules over the CAN Bus, and it comes out as an immobilizer error on your dash. There is also an error for the speed sensor, attached with a "CAN"... Could it be that somehow, the speed sensor isn't providing correct info for the CAN Bus? Just grasping here... but not entirely sure that the fault isn't somewhere else, particular looking at the codes you did pull...
Maybe have a look at the speed sensor change it out. Kind of funny that it would be tied into the immobilizer but who the heck knows
