Always been curious, the ground meat has stickers that say "Hamburger w/ Beef ELK" or "Hamburger w/ Beef DEER". Are they really mixed or is it all elk/deer?

    I eat it regardless. :)

game meat is so lean, they have to add a little domestic for fat. you can request without, usually they add pork to Elk or Deer, but since Jennie doesn't like Pork we request Beef.

Don't blame you for getting rid of it. Give me good ol' cow meat any day.

One of the reasons I gave up hunting was because I realized that it was no fun gutting animals only to mix them with beef.

umm, most people don't that process themselves. even those that get them professionally processed like myself just get the tenderloins and backstraps cut in steaks. you can wrap them in baccon if you want, but no beef "tainting" the best pieces of meat. I guess humans prefer cows sitting in a feedlot adding fat vs. lean game meat.

Nah, I just have never liked venison, much less Elk. About the only hunting I would do now-a-days is for Dove.

if you like domestic taste, wild hogs are exact same as domestic unless you get a big nasty 300 pound boar. also 75% of people overcook game meat, should be cooked rare medium-rare like you would beef.

I just find it easier to hunt at Kroger. :) I dig the camping. I like shooting guns, but cleaning game and all the rest, not so much.

If I hadn't partaken a couple of years ago, I'd have my hand in the air.....but if there's any elk in need of a short-term home..... :D

Be very careful undercooking wild hogs, they are major carriers of parasites. The best eating wild pig is the suckling pig, amazing taste especially split down the middle and placed over a mesquite fire.

that is true. I don't know anyone that eat pork rare, but who knows, I love rare beef and deer, but at least medium pork.
