Great story and if you came from humble beginnings, it's always good to never, ever forget where we came from. I know I think every day of where I started and how far I've come. It looks great...... "It took a lickin' and it keeps on ticking"! Happy Birthday!
Thank you all very much. I had a nice day, nice memories, a good dinner, and blessed to know all of you.
Very cool watch. If you love it, that is what matters. Obviously, it conjures good memories. Birthday greetings! I hope the day went well. My birthday comes up in a few days and I know my wife has bought me a watch. Can't wait. Great story. Does your Timex have a jeweled movement? GREAT to read that they can be restored. My $9.95 1971 Timex Marlin, which I've posted about here, has zero jewels. Now that mine is working again (after a simple lube job) I worry just how long it will keep on ticking with or without the licking. I do wear it.
I really like all the Daytona photos. Problem is when I go to a shop to look at them, I'm always disappointed by the small diameter and light weight...makes me appreciate my Submariner even more. Does anyone else think the same or do I require an intervention?!! Today is my Tag Heuer from 2003, my first 'expensive' watch, purchased with money left to me from my mother when she passed away that year. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Maybe I'm weak, but to me the Daytona has a good feel and weight. 40mm looks fine on my wrist. The new one with the ceramic bezel definitely has a more substantial look and feel. I have 45mm Panerai's and Hublot's, but the 42mm Explorer 2 fits my wrist the best.... but there is just something about the Daytona. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Tag Heuer chrono for me today too! Got this 42mm Indy 500 as a gift from my parents back in 2005 and have worn it for every single F1 race weekend since - it's a personal tradition. Spa this weekend so it's on the wrist for the first time in a month Image Unavailable, Please Login
