I may have to resize pictures to show you, but I was really fortunate to put this set together recently.....

One I already owned, the balsa veneer Surftech, but then a friend was breaking up his collection, for the second, and across town at Rocking Robin Guitars a THIRD one was nestled in the resale rack!

So, THREE Yater spoons, one of them an actual foam/glass example!
Proud to have these, in my quiver...

Maybe I'll cone to see you all!

So do you head down to Galveston to surf? When I was a kid, going to school in the Houston Independent School District, the guys were either "surfers" or "cowboys" . . . and rarely did the twain meet. Surfing in Galveston wasn't easy, however. I have heard that now people surf the wake of the tankers in the ship channel!

That's actually true, it was the Sheriff Department lifeguards in the channel!

See "Step Into Liquid" there is a sequence of them in there...

Yes Galveston/Surfside would be the "home turf" but I have seen Florida at Cocoa Beach area, and down the coast towards Port Aransas there's some nice breaks...

Still, going to The Islands would be a Bucket List trip for sure!!

Well, Dale Velzey (I have two of those!) combined the cowboy/surfer vibe (as well as Hot Rods).....he collected spurs, as I read in Surfer's Journal...

I am liking the one in the middle! 10' oh-my! If you make it out here BT I have a couple of good logs you could choose from to surf. I only have one at 10' though. A 10' Cooperfish V1 and it is a beast! It's probably close to 25 lbs! I have never taken it to Waikiki because it is so heavy! I usually prefer something closer to 9" and built a little lighter with more modern contours to maneuver around all those bikini babes in the water! Aloha

    You picked the "real one"!!

It has a personalized inscription, zoom in on it...

I figure the bigger ones I can teach a babe to ride tandem!!
    LOL!

The largest Velzy I just left at the Surfhouse, for storage, it's 10' 8"....they did make me take it home while they relocated. They want it back, now...

I have a similar Surftech, funboard. My son rides it now. I picked up SUPing recently. Maybe it's an old(er) man thing, lol. It's fun, mello, and full of other challenges. I keep my nose clean so I don't SUP where I don't belong. I just hang out along the south shore for the most part.

My 9' log in the back (front) yard...made by Third Stone last year to color match the first board I ever saved up for to buy, a 1977 Channel Islands (before anyone ever heard of 'em).

This is too small for Galveston...used to head down there often when I was flying at Randolph in San Antone!

That's a nice board, Hannibal. Do you go straight out to surf or go down Haleiwa way?

I usually split my time between Ali'i and Puaena point in Haleiwa or go out front to Fuji's which is behind the board in the picture...all 2 feet of it!

This past week at White Plains was nice, glassy and some size but I'm afraid it's all about to end and shift your way soon.

Well, okay you all......a sad time here, as I am not currently working.

So, here's some great shots, of the Velzy 10' 8" (!!!) on the Ferrari, going back to Surfhouse, Houston Texas.

This is a wood veneer, it's foam core Surftech, and I paid over $1200
Never been wet, hung on their wall until my post above!

Call them and get it back where it belongs.........for $800.

But it DID turn some heads, going down the street past the High School.

Tex- Hamanns look great on your 308. In Palos Verdes in the 60s it was surfers and hodads, and nobody had three skegs. You most certainly did not tie your board to your leg, either.

Stupid auto correct had hondas instead of hodads.
