Probably more evil for her to do just enough damage to force a large repair bill and not total it. That would probably piss me off more than getting the check from insurance co. For the cars value. Sub total damage Insurance pays for damage, and now you have to drive this "storied car" , fight with insurance for lost value, or sell it with a big "accident" repair on record. My best friend's father-in-law is a State Farm insurance agent. He knows I'm a car guy and I think he enjoys telling me horror stories. "Girlfriend special" is the term he uses for cars that get totalled with a knife to the interior. He's told me several stories of SUVs (all makes and price points) and one Porsche 911 (996 era IIRC), being cut to pieces in nothing flat. He said you look at the outside and think, no problem, but the airbag units in the seats and the touch screen are usually the tipping points. So if this isn't just an academic exercise, I wouldn't leave the car anywhere unattended and might consider filing a police report.
An ex wife and a knife are a major problem. My Ferrari would be the least of my concerns. Just ask Lorena Bobbit's husband. Now that lady will live in infamy.
Many years ago, in the 90s, I broke up with a girlfriend who proceeded to throw my computer through the windshield of my brand new M3
Obviously we haven't golfed together, I'll probably muff that one up and have to take a mulligan! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hard hitting topic for me. The wife and I have been going through it last week. She has threatened to to all Taylor Swift on my car and a large painting. It is no joke and I had to stash it for a few days until she calmed down. you might want to consider moving it for a couple months till things cool down. Get a storage garage or something.... I consider it temporary insanity. I care about her and she might hurt herself, too. She needs somebody here and we don't have family friends around as we recently moved.
