38mm Apple Watch with a new leather band I got for my birthday yesterday. Complements it quite well, I think, and compels me to try and use more analog-type watch faces than the modular digital one I am used to.

Liking this watch much more and more.

spazgaz...On the Daytona it's an iconic watch, maybe one of the most iconic watches ever (certainly in the top 5). It's elegant, comfortable, beautiful in design and proportion. Doesn't mean you have to own it just to tick a box but to me it's a special occasion piece (cars and coffee), etc. And of importance...it's a "car" guys watch.

I've never seen a Zenith like that before. Looks pretty cool. Can you shoot a straight on picture for us watch geeks?

    Dave --

We share a birthday -- Happy belated Birthday to you!

Like you, I spent the day looking back, but I was wearing the newest watch in my collection, and a first for me. This is my first Rolex, and something I never thought I'd own.

Better still the watch was a birthday gift from another something I wasn't sure I'd ever have. It was given to me by my fiancee.

On a day spent thinking about the journey of my life, I wore something from the opposite end of the watch spectrum, but the reflections were similar. In quiet thankful moments I'm amazed by how far I've come.

It is the automatic version of the Super Sub-Sea, ref A3635. There is also a very nice chronograph with the same case called A3736, featuring the manual winding 146HP movement. And don't confuse the A3736 with the 1000m diver version A3637 😉

This watch is haunting me. It seems a very rare bird. Is the crown at the "10" the helium escape valve?

    Thanks

It used to haunt me too back in the day. From the first time I saw it, until I laid hands on my own precious. I just had to have it! No excuses.
The 10 o'clock crown is in fact not a helium escape, it rotates the inner bezel. And you're right, it is quite rare. Particularly with the kind of bezel mine has. Smaller numbers with the outer row in orange.

My first thought was rotating bezel, but then the dial looked seamless.
Google yielded no clues. I have to ask—what's the scale for? I expect it might have something to do with time/oxygen/safe time.

    Thanks....again

I had to repost this statistic from today's aBlogtoWatch as it's somewhat mind-boggling.

"About 25 million authentic watches roll out of Switzerland’s manufacturing plants annually, compared to China’s 663 million."

And I would add any Nautilus for when a waterproof watch is required.

Wow. How many of the 663m are "authentic"?
