Recently purchased 348 Speedline GTS Wheels from Ferrparts, new 18x8 and 18x10. They are beautiful. Took off my HRE 547 (I think) 18x8.5 and 18x11 but wanted to get the Brotherhoods perspective on which wheels you guys prefer.

I love the look of the Old School 348GTC wheels they fit the car! Not sure why they are upside down!!!
I love the look of the HRE's a bit more aggressive!

Any thoughts? What says you guys?

Couple more photos to better evaluate, not sure which I want to keep again both sets are perfect the 348GTC wheels are brand new with less than 20 miles on them the HRE's have a few thousand miles on them and are also perfect, not selling either one (at this time) just want the Brotherhoods opinion...

Beside the fact that I think they are just better looking wheels, the ones with the slots or openings in the spokes "work" better (much better), visually, with the streaks on the side of the car. I think they complement each other.

Re-reading, I guess the HREs are the ones with the slots in the spokes. Much nicer, as in MUCH nicer, IMO (and they don't cause your car to flip over so they're also safer).

I have the Speedlines on my 1990 348 and I love the look. I get many compliments.

I always hated the GTC wheels, but I'd take them hands down over those HREs, if that tells you anything.

Almost a draw except for BJWHITE's comment taking the 348GTC wheels over HRE's? I always thought that HRE's are one of the top related wheels on the market, am I mistaken?

The only wheels I like better than Speedlines, are BBS LM's. Still keeping my eye out for them.

The real question is why are YOU asking any of us what we think after you wrote this: "I love the look of the HRE's a bit more aggressive!"
    Why?

Your car. Your wheels. Your money. Why are you trying to please any of us?

Top rated quality, sure. But just because something is high quality and expensive doesn't make it aesthetically pleasing. I find in general, HREs to be too "flasy"--too much polish, too many bolts, like they are trying too hard. Makes the wheel look cheap to me, like a chrome hubcap....but there we go. :) Not all HRE wheels mind you, just most of them it seems.

Challenge wheels are my favs for these cars.

Are the bolts on these HREs real or just made to look like actual bolts?

You are mistaken if you believe that I am trying to please anyone but myself, just wanted the 348's Brotherhoods perspective! And yes the HRE's have bolts like the GTC's - they are both 3 piece wheels. HRE's are a bit more bling, but no chrome just polished outer lip. But thank you for your input I appreciate it. To me both wheels are beautiful in their own right, the GTC IMHO give it a more "old school" visual feel to the car where the HRE"s give a more updated look.

I agree, Albert. Both are handsome wheels and complement your GTS.

Albert, no harm is seeking other owners opinions. I personally agree with your assessment of the wheels. I have had the HRE's on a couple of BMW's and really liked them. As you know, in person the workmanship is excellent.
Sounds like you want them both! Good luck with the choice.

How is it the HREs can have "too many" bolts? Since these are actual multi-piece wheels they're not there for looks.

there is something ive always found weird about the rear wheel arches of the 348.. they are no symmetrical...?

the edge closest to the Pininfarina badge is tight, looking almost like the tire is close to touching.. then it arches up high at the top and stretches out further at the rear..

looking at the car from a side profile.. any wheel even stock wheels.. don't look centered in the rear arch.. something about this distorts the car..at least when I look at it..

as for the OP question.. I like the HRE rims better.. but those BBS above are probably the best type rim on a 348/355 chassis..

It seems most people reactions to the HRE's are: they either like them, but can think of something they like a little more in contrast to the speedline GTC which its either love or complete repulsion

Which I don't understand, if you look at so many stock Ferrari wheels including the 512 and 550 they are all similar wheels if not identical. Well at this time am keeping the GTC on the car and from time to time will swap out for the more aggressive HRE's. It is so subjective!

I agree in that the GTC are more a classic look and the HRE are a more updated look. Both are fantastic upgrade options! I would keep both and switch back and forth based on what I'm feeling like. It's what I do with my 360 Starfish and Asanti aftermarkets.

Gtc. Others are a tad too modern in my view.

More importantly, are they recessed wing shields?
