Just wondering if anyone knows where to procure an airbag module for a 95 355? It started with an occasional air bag light on, but would go right out. After several attempts to get codes out, no luck. When pin 1 is grounded, the light just gets a little brighter, but no flash codes. Have good power and ground, so I'm betting a bad module. I just cant seem to locate one. Thank you in advance. John

How do you know you need a new module? Has anyone connected an SD to it?

The WSM shows pin 1 on the left with the connector clip on top. Was there something which made you doubt that, Grant?

Now please do not take my word for this. However, if I remember correctly, it is very possible the airbag ecu used in the 355 is the same as a Ford probe from the 90's. However I may be mistaken. I could be confusing it with something else.

I cant confirm without looking but from memory (not as good as it used to be) I thought if you matched up the clip the spaces between the 3 pins and single pin were opposite.

I do not have access to an SD, so I'm assuming that the light going on and off (which is not normal, it should go on when it detects a fault and stay on). And not being able to get flash codes, leads me to this conclusion.

In terms of numbers of cars that have survived, I surmise that Probes are more rare than Ferraris. :) Parts availability might be better, though.

The light going on / off could be a short.

    Maybe the bulb is faulty?

Turn off the master battery cutoff and switch bulbs with another light.

Broken or damaged airbag clockspring making intermittent contact, perhaps? Had any work done on the steering/front suspension recently?

My understanding is the system checks for a bulb, and each airbag. If the clockspring did screw up i think it would throw a permanent light.

This is why something seems weird. Maybe light is jumperd, seen that.

The system would not know if the clockspring had intermittent contact or the wire leading to the clockspring. Not sure what you mean by the light maybe being jumpered...

I am thinking that any fault that is detected during an ignition cycle would result in a solid light, and definitely not be intermittent during the same ignition cycle. And because of the intermittent nature of this, I believe the module is defective. There may be other problems, but with a good module I will be able to diagnose it.

Some owners have jumpered the power wire from another source to make it look like the airbag light and system are functioning. No one I know on here thinks thats a good idea.

I know it does because it check all three functions when you first turn on the key. Once the system is on than it may not check but I can not confirm or deny the second statement.

Where does the clockspring get the power that flows through it? It gets it from some wire in some wiring harness. The point is, the system would not know if there is intermittent contact in the wiring leading to the clockspring or the clockspring assembly itself.

How does that make the airbag light go off and on intermittently?

It wont it will stay on once sensing a faul which was why I said it could be jumpered or a faulty bulb,

If it's "jumpered," to hide a fault, why does the light come on (original poster says the light comes on)? If the bulb is "faulty," why does the light come on? What is your definition of a "faulty" bulb?

He also said it gets brighter when he tries to reset using factory pins.

Likely getting intermittent power from another circuit.
