My main complaint is that, having switched to "old style", there seems to be no way to compress the headings, like there is in the "new style". There are some headings which I would like to compress so that all I see the the heading title, not the threads underneath it.

Personally, I can live with the "old style" but still much prefer the layout of the old website.

I asked earlier, but no answer yet...

Can ANYONE tell us what the ADVANTAGES are of the new software?

Obviously many (most?) of us are struggling with the visual changes...and learning how to get full size pics is a challenge at first...is there anything that is actually better?? Hoping for a list of things and not 1 or 2 or easier to support/etc...

Is there any way to get a permanent link for "new posts"? This one generates a link like http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/find-new/1544/posts with the number changing each time. That means a shortcut (like on the home screen of a phone) can't go directly to the new posts as we could do before.

edit: apparently the "unlink URL" button doesn't really work either.

OK I'm on day 2 of trialling and have been flipping from old style to new style. I haven't voted yet, because I want to give it more time. BUT - what are the new features / improvements? I haven't seen anything yet that I think is an advance?

Ok... Some of these complaints are pathetic... Truly. The new software is different..... It does pretty much everything the old one did and more.. Just deal with it and learn it instead of complaining. That's probably what the owners are thinking but are too polite to say lol

No. I think it's an optical illusion Rob. There's so much empty space, and everything so big....and the poster's message is so small in comparison..... So if a sponsor posts an ad (woops...Freudian slip)....if a sponsor posts a comment.....everything grabs one's attention before what was posted by the poster...including his ad in his sig.

That may be something that one subconsciously learns to "filter out" after some time on the forum.

There's so much empty space that it's difficult to know what section one is in. That's just different ....maybe not necessarily bad....

kinda like being in a Walmart....

This sucks. All I want is posts in reverse order. I don't give a damn about anything else.

I would disagree. The paid for version of the tapatalk app is still superior to this UI for mobile (even though this is way better than the old software, which was unusable on a phone). Tapatalk gives you just the post content, no fluff, no ads, no wasted blank space, nighttime mode, proper contrast, properly integrated device notifications and subscriptions, multi forum feed, proper messaging with other users, simpler image attachment. It seems to avoid a lot of the things people have been complaining about for the last 24 hours. Just all round better usability... for me at least on an iPhone 6

I was not always a tapatalk fan though I felt obliged to use it on the phone for fchat. They screwed up the UI plenty of times and alienated a lot of their users with bad updates and unless you pay to be ad free it's not a pleasant experience.

Rob says there is an fchat app coming that is built using tapatalk so it will be interesting to see how that looks and behaves.

no way to search in a subforum? at least the "search" box doesn't show up at the top of the page.

also the Ferrari Tampa Bay subforum gives a dead link. might want to check other similar subforums.

Rob, I'd be grateful if you looked at the images in my post above #110 and tell me why the names are superimposed over other things. It happens when I am browsing on my iphone in standard view. If I flip to landscape, it corrects. Is there something in the settings on either FChat or my phone I can change to correct this? I dont like holding my phone in landscape view. In fact, I usually keep it locked to it wont do that. Also, is there a way to make the classic view red?

    Thanks,

    e

On the top right side of the screen (just above your username), there is a search box. If you start typing in that box, and menu appears with a checkbox that says "Search this forum only". Make sure that checkbox is checked, and you should be good to go.

    Font is too light
Individual threads are too far apart i.e. less of an "overview" on the screen at one time
