Leaving aside all the anti lotus stuff that's been done adnorsium. Seeing this Evora at the international airport today I rather like it in the flesh, as it's not that photogenic. To some the V6 Toyota is a negative to others like me it's an advantage. Now Lotus is owned by Geely it will be an interesting future. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like this later version and the "black." Option of the roof actually helps the styling. 5 years old second hand would be good buying
no anti-Lotus from me... I reckon they're cracker little toys; the big Lotii contingent at Targa were all nice friendly folk.
Yeah what anti-Lotus stuff I don't really see many Evora on the road... Elise/Exige on the other hand almost daily
I have an Evora and love it, absolutely love it. Mine was #18 of the Evora design designated for the states (Out of 1256 if I recall correctly of the S1). They are great handling cars that are a blast to drive. It grabs attention anywhere I go. I don't think a drive has gone by that I haven't seen people taking photos of it. You can't go wrong and they are affordable yet not common place like other cars. Oh and during the 3 years I have owned mine I have only seen one other on the road.
Years ago the old adage LOTUS - Lots of trouble usually serious was bandied around and this stuck for years, not now. I wasn't a fan of the ouriginal evora style but rather like the latest style more befitting the market theses cars are in.
I'm not anti-Lotus. I quite like the Evora, but am not a fan of the Elise / Exige styling-wise. No big deal: I'm not a fan of a lot of Ferraris styling-wise either. I do wish they'd make another Esprit, though. One day I'm gong to buy an early Esprit, just because.
fixed ps. I like them too, especially an Essex livery turbo, but I'm not sure I could cope with the frustration of the slapstick kit-car engineering and a p*ss-weak Renault transaxle.
I had an S3 Turbo (last of the paper dart shape) - lots of maintenance, you don't repair it, you re-engineer it. But it went like stink. Horse offered to trade it on a QV (the one I have now) - bought a TVR instead. Not the worst decision I've ever made, but close. Still got one Image Unavailable, Please Login
New Evora GT 430 Sport https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/lotus-evora-gt430-sport-fastest-road-going-lotus-yet http://www.lotuscars.com/evora-gt-430
Yeah, well, Colin started the same time as Enzo, and on a fraction of the budget managed to kick sand in his face on the circuit a few times.
Well that's how the poms like to tell the story, but there's a bit more too it, e.g. Ford paying for the development of the DFV, which Lotus initially had exclusive access to. Then there was tobacco sponsorship, Lotus were the first to paint their car like a cigarette packet - arguably they started the commercialisation of F1. Throughout Lotus F1 history, they only ever made the chassis. Ferrari on the other hand made engine, gearbox and chassis. That's why he liked to call the poms "garagistes".
The Geely connection has the Lotus Websites buzzing and who knows, Toyota may pull the plug on engines. Volvo V8 I dought it. I certainly don't see the the use of an engine that's had more money spent on an entire engine, than Ferrari do on the whole Series of cars, a bad thing. I fact it sells cars, shame it's not enough.
NOBODY really beats Ferrari, they beat themselves When they are behind or slower than the others, its the fault of the rubbish engineers and/or pox drivers, or the FIA crook/mafia. FERRARI are KING, no correspondence will be entered into, and i am not even a bit biased! FORZA FERRARI!
At Doha airport, they had a Lamborghini for raffle, US$180 ticket, no fence around, do you pay 5% duty on a prize if you win? At the airport shops, [i was looking at a 116618LB] annoying that after 10s you get hounded by staff, shop after shop, why online rocks! CNN et al. are fake news, Doha is a fake city, you cannot and will not ever get class just because you have coin,,,,,
It's been a long time since I've posted here on Fchat, almost 10 years in fact. Anyway I'll be looking to buy a 360 once I sell my Esprit which I've been driving for the last 15 years. Time for a change. Can't wait. Image Unavailable, Please Login
