    We were lucky enough to be able to buy this amazing car from a long time F-Chat member.

    This 1981 512 BBi has only 1697 documented miles. It is original in every way, including the substandard factory paint job. It even still has the original plastic on the sills. This is a car for a serious collector and/or someone who's looking for the perfect concours entry.

    It has all its documentation, books, and untouched tools and spare.

    Here are the only issues with the car. It's last belt service with 10 years ago (we can include one with the sale). Also, there is a small area on the drivers door where the clear coat is crazing.

    The VIN indicates that this was the 5th or 6th production BBi ever made, and the 1st ever brought into the US.

    A 1984 with slightly lower miles sold for $440,000 in Monterey. We're asking $435,000.

    They put clearcoat on these things back in 81 and my 92 348 doesn't have clearcoat?

    I believe it's single stage, not base / clear. (If original paint)

    but it says: only 1697 documented miles, also it says the 1st BBi brought into the US, so then the speedometer is original in miles, and the counter says 2656. so the car has 2656 miles, not km. and even if it would be km then the miles would be 1650, not 1697.
    shall I be wrong?

    It was brought into the US by an individual, not by the factory.

    The odometer reads in Klm. You are correct. It is 1650 miles. We did our math wrong. Thank you!

    All I can tell you is that it looks like it has clear coat crazing on this small section of the drivers door.
