Hi All, I am planning to Trade my 2012 California Red for a 458 either black or yellow. I never had a coupe before and always preferred a CAB. I don't want regret after buying a coupe. Can you please help me to make my decision? There are plenty of coupes in the market. Thanks for your time Dev
I presume you have a spider. So you know the hardtop cab is close to the coupe when closed vs cloth tops. The coupe is stiffer and better if you like to track. You can see the engine via a window. Some people just like the looks of the coupe better. It's a matter of taste. The spider holds its value better. You can lower the rear window and hear the engine music better. I would and have a spider. But you really can't make a bad choice here. Owners of both love them, and some have both. Maybe you should as well.
I went from a 430 coupe to a 458 Spider. I have to say, I really like the spider. It was nice seeing the engine behind you in the 430, but now having the spider, I think it looks better than the coupe (in the 458. The coupe in the 430 looks way better than the spider). But if you are going to track the car, then by all means get a coupe. Sounds like you already answered your own question, since you mentioned that you don't want to regret getting a coupe.
I had a F430 coupe. Great car, I wish I hadn't sold it. However every time it wasn't raining, I wished I could drop the top. I now have a 458 spider. I don't think I'll ever sell it. IMO, get a 458 spider
to my eye the 458 coupe is much better looking than the spider. that being said i feel that way about the 355. for the 360 and 430 i prefer the spiders.
Nothing like dropping the top on the spider, feeling the wind blow through your hair and hearing the scream of that engine at 9000 RPM'S. Spider all the way!
I have had both, and currently still have the Spider...they both look fantastic. Spider wins hands down...when you're driving with the top off, you'll never wish you had a coupe. In regard to track performance, who cares! Ferrari's own data: the coupe beats the Spider around Fiorano by a huge 0.4sec, so seeing that 99.999% of us never track the car...it means nothing. All that said the coupe is awesome lol, I just had to wait till Spider prices dropped a bit, which they did, but they are still VERY strong in the market, and will be forever. I attached a photo of my coupe, lowered on H&R springs, 1".
It's perhaps the definition of a personal question: it's purely based on personal taste. The Italia and the Spider are two different ways of enjoying one of the best Ferraris of all time. It's not like one is better than the other: they offer different emotions. I personally prefer the Italia, but I have another convertible Ferrari. If not, I'd probably have gone with the Spider. Kind regards, Nuno.
IMVHO a sports car is a convertible. It seems like you are going faster with the top down. My top is down 99% of the time. Plus we get over 300 days of sunshine a year. The 458 spider is the best sports car l have ever driven or owned.
Thank You all for the input! I think, I made my decision. Only thing I need to finalize is the color. I've a Red may be another Red! or a Black.
May I suggest a grey like Grigio Silverstone over black? It shows of the lines alot more while still giving the dark look that black does. Plus it's easier to maintain.
The lines of the coupe are easier on the eyes, but the spider offers top-down motoring with very little compromise in rigidity, at a higher price. Your choice.
Here is the deal.. the spider has more versatility! Period! I could go on having had exposure to both.. for me there is no choice... SPIDER
If i didn't have my f430 spider i would choose a 458 spider. Although I think coupes look better than spiders when the top is up and you can see the engine under the glass.
