New site looks great to me. Mobile experience also great. Well done!

 

A couple of questions.

1. How do I turn off the emails that get sent whenever a thread is updated or anything else for that matter? I do see the alerts options and I may not want to turn those off but like them only in the Alerts tab.
2. Is the 10 minute limit on post editing going to be increased to what it was on the old software? Ten minutes is way too short.

 

Look at the top menu and click "alerts"

They click "alert preferences"

 

As I said, I did that. I don't see anything about emails?

 

The enail options are in "preferences ", not alert preferences. Sorry.

 

OK that's where I remember seeing it. Well it doesn't work. I don't have them turned on for email notification but I am getting emails. looks like a BUG.

 

BTW, I just selected the update email options at the bottom of the email and elected to have them turned off. Perhaps that will work instead?

Still looking into this. All we know now is that it is cookie related. need to clear cookies.

Do you have watched forums? When you post in a forum you are given option to receive emails. Might have checked a box on a forum without knowing it (under more options). if you know what thread keeps emailing you, then you might go check that thread's options.

It seems that there two places to indicate whether thread updates are to issue an email.

One under preferences:

Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply...

• and receive email notifications of replies

And another under contacts: Though this refers to "conversations".

Receive email when a new conversation message is received

Email notifications for new conversations, replies to existing conversations, and being added to an existing conversation.

Both of mine are turned off now and were before as well. But I also selected the option at the bottom of the email to turn off email notifications and that never brought me to either of these screens so something seems wrong?

 

How do you search a thread? Can't find an icon.

 

top right. First go to the thread you want to search, then, hit "search" options will pop up. (er, down)

Not a good analogy. What would the Coca-Cola company have done if they were told that a key ingredient in Coke Classic was no longer being made, available supplies could only dwindle and, oh BTW, the suppliers were getting sloppy and allowing more contaminants into the existing supply? That's a more analogous situation with a software platform that hasn't been supported for many years and hasn't had any security or other updates since.

Oh, and if you'd give it a chance, you might find in a day or two, that it actually works quite well, and that Rob, Jack and the software guys are working hard to make it better.

We all get it, this is different. It might take a little getting used to, but, it's the best choice from a bucket full of less than optimal choices, and the guys are gonna make it great.

Cool, update looks really nice!!

 

Is there any way for the pictures to show up automatically? It keeps making it a tiny image that I have to click to open and it gets really annoying when there are multiple pictures.
