The esitimate seems quite low for me, when even 1976 US models sell for 170.000$ and more. Check the number of MY76 cars for sale, and for MY75 cars. The MY75 cars that were sold in Germany the last year (I know of four) were much higher.
It has some incorrect details, but overall good. For example, carpet is wrong, tachometer also. But that's easy to do right. I did expect an extimate of 300.000 UKP.
I agree that the estimate looks low. From the pictures seems like an honest example fully restored to an acceptable standard. A few months ago decent drivers to be restored were going around 200.000 / 220.000 GBP. I purchased my '75 a year ago for about 180.000 but was in need of a complete restoration and I know I will end up spending in the range of 100-120.000 to make it nice, not over-restored but nice from bare steel tub (including re-repair of old accident). If this one goes for 200.000 GBP or less, then it will be a great deal for the buyer in my humble opinion. Just a picture of my money-pit at the current stage .... Hi, someone is offering me 130.000 Euros for my March 76 ROW Turbo, copper brown met on tan, matching numbers, no history. Mine is a driver's car, although it is in need of body works to make it perfect. But mechanically it is perfect with over 25.000 euros of work recently done by a very well known specialist. I am not looking to sell it and I got this unexpected offer, but I really I am wondering whether in the current market the price is fair. The guy who's interested tells me this is well paid given current market conditions. But I am of a suspicious nature. Any hints? Best.
I´d say too cheap. If you dont need the money, wait for another 5 years do it yourself, or sell it then for double. IMHO these cars are the grandfathers of all combustion engine sportscars, with the regular 911 now having turbos as well, only going up in value. I wouldnt sell mine now that I dont need the money, but as an entrepreneur you never know - when I tried to sell mine 1 1/2 years ago just when the market hit a bump, I couldnt sell it for €150K, probably looking comparable to yours.
That's more than fair given the current market. It's not 2015 anymore. Yes you can hold on to it for a few more years and maybe the prices will go back up or prices will just just remain as they are today. Either way you will incur cost(maintenance, insurance,etc..etc). If you are enjoying it and don't desire something else than keep it but if you want to sell it today, that's the current reality.
I will give you more than 130k Euros if you decide to sell the car. Drop me a message if you entertain the thought.
Apparently this car did not sell and the market seems to think it is not worth the reserve price ... must have been something around 150.000 GBP ... very low indeed when you factor in the cost of a full restoration.
Geez. I put mine for sale on pelican for $169k. Nothing serious and it's a really nice correct car...low miles zero rust ever sport seats tartan etc. I thought price was very fair for what it would take to buy a decent car and redo it to that condition
I have a question for the mechanically inclined. I bought my '77 930 this past January and have put around 500 miles on it since. Six months ago I was driving the car and the engine just shut off. I rolled to a stop and started the car and took off like nothing happened. This didn't happen again for a few weeks. I figured maybe I just stalled the clutch on accident, but no the car would do this intermittently at random times. Best I can describe it is it's just like if you were driving along and turned the ignition off. Now I am noticing it happening more frequently and when I was fueling up at the station a few days ago it took three attempts to start the car, so this is not a good pattern. I would say that the car has shut down on me four or five times total and the last two in the same day. Has any one else experienced anything like this on an early 930. I should mention the engine is all stock with no modifications. thanks
It could be one of many different issues, but sounds like your over-boost sensor is grounding intermittently. Easy fix if that's the case. PM me I have an extra I no longer need
I would suggest that you have the pick-up sensor on the flyweel checked. Your description sounds a lot similar to a problem I had related to that same sensor working intermittently. Hope it helps.
The pick-up sensor came with the Carrera 3.2. For the Turbo 3.0, there are two possible causes, no fuel, or no ingnition. Fuel can be a problem with the relays, or the contact on the K-Jetronic which runs the fuel pumps. Or the overboost protection switch. Ignition can be the sensor cable from the distributor to the CDI box, or a bad CI box (very rare).
