Hi, I am in the process of putting a later style air filter box on my Indy 4.2. It's much more practical and gives some space to use a coolant overflow tank. The first picture shows the type of air filter box I am using. The second picture shows the part I must put together: air filter base, paper gasket (1), aluminium spacer (2), air horn (3), aluminum ring (4), rubber ring (5). Can somebody please tell me in wich order these parts come together from the carb cover up to the air horn? Thanks a lot, Alain. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
From the books i have which are the parts books for various cars you should have 3 of the item # 1. THe assemble is part #1, part#2, Part#1, air cleaner housing, part#1 then Part #3. Parts 4&5 go into the top of the carb before the first part # 1. Look at you parts book and I am sure you will see the arrangement of gaskets and spacers
Hi Eugene, Thank you for your very clear explanation. I still have to point out that my parts book tells there should be 16 of the rubber rings (#5 on my last picture and #9 on table 9). So, I think 8 more of them should be placed under the air horns. Do you agree with this idea? Alain. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
