https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/fia-technical-department-boss-budkowski-resigns-957774/ Hope this is for the oil burning shambles that cost Ferrari any hope to recover the gap,
To be fair, I think that we can´t put the blame on FIA about that. They were told by Mercedes that they were not going to change engine at Spa. It´s not FIA´s fault that later at Mercedes they changed their minds or just were liying. It´s within the law anyway. But what I find extremely worrying is that this guy, Budkowski, who knows not only all the current cars but also future developments of all teams has a gardening leave of just three months! Usually a normal technical director or chief aerodynamicist has longer gardening leave periods. If Budkownski signs for any team, they will have a lot of interesting knowledge about what everybody else is doing. About Whiting: I won´t miss him. Too many mistakes. When Vettel told him to f*** off, he was just stating what everybody really thinks about him.
The thing with oil burning is that Whiting and Budkowski contradicted each other, the former wrongly stating that any new engines would be restricted because the other wrote the rule so poorly. Don't blame Mercedes at all for this mess and Whiting should go as well soon, like, yesterday!
Mills Lane must be one of the few. Since I follow motorsport, I have seen FIA officials constantly criticised for their governance, and the decisions of stewards attacked. In fact, sport is like politics in that respect.
