I have just heard something troubling from a Ferrari tech (second hand). He says the FF shares the same trans as the California and that is has a lot of problems. Specifically, one client has had four rebuilds on one car for example.

Anyone know anything about this purported issue/concern??

    Thanks...

Is it the same as the California trans? What was the repair cost (had it not been covered under warranty) for the rebuilds?

The service manager at the Ferrari dealer told me he had done numerous transmission fixes on other FF's though mine was the first "repeat"

I've had a transmission problem in a 2010 California when the car was 22.000 Km and because there was an extended warranty all the repair costs were supported by Ferrari. The problem had to do with the speed sensor which was faulty and the transmission was removed one first time, opened and the sensor substituted. After the repair was done everything seemed fine but the automatic electric brake wasn't being activated by the gear-box when the car stopped and Ferrari ordered the dealer to remove the transmission a second time. This saga took more than three months and when I got the California back the transmission was fine but I was so fed-up with the process that I sold it three months later.

At the time talking with my Ferrari dealer mechanics which did the all transmission repair, I was told that the bigger incidence of gear-box repairs they did were in early Calis also a couple of F12's but, curiously, they made no reference whatsoever to issues with FF's. The repair of the California transmission I described I was told would have amounted to $10.000 if I had to pay for it.

I was looking at an 11K mile FF out of Fort Lauderdale but found out it was already through two tranny rebuilds.

Speed sensor issue for 2012 FF with 18K miles. So far no problem after 4K miles post speed sensor replacement. Has extended warranty still but fingers still crossed here.

P.S. Can someone please send me a PM so that my PM function will then work? Apparently you need to receive your first PM before you can send one!

Thanks. I will reply when I've received one so as not to have everyone else thinking I still need the favor!

FYI - the Getrag 7DCL750 double clutch transmission is clearly used in the following models (max torque figures are included):

Mercedes SLS AMG (635 to 650 Nm)
Mercedes AMG GT (600 to 650 Nm)
    Ferrari California/California 30 (485/500 Nm)
    Ferrari California T (755 Nm)
    Ferrari 458/485 Speciale (540/540 Nm)
    Ferrari 488 (760 Nm)
    Ferrari F12 (690 Nm)
    Ferrari FF (683 Nm)
    Ford GT (746 Nm)

The 7DCL750 transmission is designed to support up to 750 Nm of torque.

I have not seen clear sources of information on whether the 7DCL750 is used in these other Ferrari models but here are max torque figures for them and I suspect these cars also use the 7DCL750:

    F12tdf 705 Nm (probably 7DCL750)
LaFerrari V12 engine 700 Nm (possibly also uses 7DCL750)
    GTCLusso (V12) 697 Nm (probably 7DCL750)
    GTC4Lusso T 760 Nm (probably 7DCL750)
    812Superfast 718 Nm (probably 7DCL750)
    Portofino 760 Nm (probably 7DCL750)

I wasn't in any way trying to slam Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale. This particular car is being sold on consignment for an existing customer.

14,400 on mine , 12' only issue has been batteries and one 02 sensor but with no draw anywhere or issues with alternator.. I do travel so letting it sit is the culprit however none of my other cars have battery drain like FF.. Other wise been flawless

Selling it as we speak, grigio titanio in fort laud nice spec and kind of regretting it already :(
