It seems that the only way to get an air bag module is to get one from a salvage yard. Apparently there aren't any companies making new ones or rebuilding old ones. So that brings on a question of what can be done to keep these cars intact?
It seems that there is a fear that repairing a safety device will lead to legal problems down the road if it fails to perform its task. But there are manufacturers that will rebuild steering racks and brake calipers. Imagine what can go wrong if a part like those were to fail?
I wonder if the long term future of air bag systems will be left to disfunction?
It just seems that there would be some profit for a company like TRW to offer rebuilt modules for all types of autos that no longer have factory support. After all, there are some states that will not safety inspect a vehicle if the air bag light, ABS light or Brake warning lights are on. And that number of vehicles that have been produced since 1990 has got to be substantial.
    I guess we wait? John

The gubmint will be happy to see cars disappear from the roads for whatever reason, and it gets worse with each new year model.

100%. The support for the 25 year plus exotic is getting thin..we will see in the not to distant future who picks up the reins and starts producing theses parts.
