The day before the racetrack training I wanted to prepare the Scuderia. I've sat in the car, turned the key, waited until "check ok" is lit, everything went fine, turned on, nothing happened. My analytical thinking was stimulated, is it the immobilizer? Has the key not enough battery power? Everything seems to be fine, but not a "klick klick klick" from the engine starter, nothing. Ok, shutdown and everything from the beginning. Again nothing, "check ok" is lit, then nothing.

I called immediately my dealer (what about the planned track training??), told him about the situation, he connected me to the workshop specialist. While waiting I have seen it, the red button on the steering wheel. A light pressure on it and the car started perfectly. The specialist came to the phone and I told him the situation with the request not to share with anyone.

Yesterday I visited the dealer, I was received by the people with a laugh.
They know me, it was not the first time that I called them because of this symptom on my Scud... :)

We talked about such stories. It seems that I am not the only one...

Lol. With so many cars having a red start button standard these days, I'd say you need to get out more. ;)

I wont lie, I too have had a few heart sinking moments when turning the key, fully expecting a loud roar but only receiving silence. Yet it does make the startup even that much more satisfying once I eventually do rediscover that elusive red button lol.

That happens to my scud every now and then too. Press brake, turn key, wait for OK, press the START button and . . . nothing. No clicking, no indication that the button has been pressed. When I repeat the process once or twice, it works like normal.

Would love to figure out what the issue is as I'm concerned that one day it won't start on a second, third, attempt.

When this happens, look to make sure your immobilizer light has turned off. I was having intermittent problems for a while too, but never thought to look at the light until it finally stopped starting for good, then I realized that the immobilizer light wasn't turning off. I eventually had to sent it to Ferrari for a new immobilizer ecu.

Friends, you give me strength and courage! :)

I’ve heard from my dealer the “one meter manual-jump” is also well known and feared, it can be, in comparison to the red button blackout, very expensive...

Full success, the measures work! Had an inspiring drive after a zero-problem startup procedure.

What I have to do now is a measure that ensures that the engine does not turn off with the red button... ;)
