Last poll we had was over two years ago. We have new owners now and updates to make! I just went over 85,000 miles last weekend. Just breaking it in!
14,4XX. Got her with 11,000 on the clock. The mileage basically hit a wall when I got my 911 a while ago. Now she does the special occasions and the run around the neighborhood once a month to keep things happy. I fully admit, I have fallen into the 'dont drive it like it was intended' crowd. But my dedication to preservation is still on point. Weekly starts, run ups with a full electronic component check (lights, wipers, AC-Heat system). Let her heat up till the fans kick on and off then shut down.
about how many miles you drive then in the neighborhood? so only in idle? without driving? then the gearbox oil still is cold and also the spark plugs not really clean burned by themselve.
A Mini PPI once a week is more than good in my book. It allows me to identify a potential issue and rectify it. I might not be a top tier collector, who employ a staff of caretakers, but my TR is more than ready to take a long road trip at any time. Joe, I do drive my TR once a month at least. It might be around the neighborhood, or to the market, but it does get love with regularity. I fully understand that a stagnant mechanical object absorbs trouble. Im a commercial pilot.....a plane that flies has less issues. That mentality is carried on to everything I own.
I have put 500 miles on my car since collecing it last week. It has done 42,000 miles and I hope to add many more!
Really getting the mileage up on mine now.....19k kms. Sent from my SM-G955F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Just a hair under 109K on the 512TR. Oct 25th will mark the 18th anniversary of my purchase from the original owner.
I'm at 14,4xx. Monthly visits to the car show or bagel run to keep the fluids running. Much harder to do in 110 deg. heat in the desert Southwest in the summers, and as much as she complains about the heat, she performs like a champ.
55,600 km. Found at the peak of the GFC in Dubai in 2008, barely running, two steps away from being a parts car. After almost a decade of weekend tinkering (and about 15,000 km of test drives) it now drives very well.
Just turned over to 22,000 and definetly the more I drive the car the better it runs. It has been sitting for a while with a house move and other things seemingly getting in the way. I would like to catch up to Steve at the 80,000+ level ! Mark
At a quick glance, I see exactly what I would have expected when comparing this poll to the one opened 2 years ago. Same type of distribution with a MEAN shift up. It would be interesting to analyze exactly what the MEAN shift is over such a relatively short period and one that happened to include a point where prices peeked. Here's a hypothesis. If the MEAN shift is significant, then it may negate the theory that cars get driven less as their value increases. Let's wait for more data.
It's not just the miles, but how frequently the car is driven. Older Ferraris need their exercise or the fluids start to accumulate in the wrong places. It's important to sort out issues before they become bigger problems.
I would add to this that its also about who fixed it and money spent. Sometimes people struggle to keep up with what is needed and or do it themselves. Id rather go to a good mechanic than mess it up myself bc i know i will lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Absolutely. Here's what a <9,000 mile clutch looks like. Plate one doing all the work: Image Unavailable, Please Login Plate two just going for the ride. Image Unavailable, Please Login So i suspect that the spline shaft corroded, due to a long period of sitting idle, and prevented the friction plates from contacting the flywheel, intermediate plate and pressure plates evenly. Same can be said for brake calipers. In my case, I had to do a total rebuild at around the same milage due to seized pistons.
Wow! Great work from you though!!! Fascinating how good some of you are on this forum! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The best part is that we document everything. If you ever attempted to fix anything yourself, rest assured that you will get our support.
I am starting with basics: right now fixing my headlight stock sourcing from a lancia delta new unit: cost of dyi 175 vs 600 for rebuild vs 1800 a used unit on ebay. Loving it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
