They are not fiberglass anymore. That went out with the C4's. They are a composite material with carbon fiber panels being mixed in.

Ok but still composite material - same sentiment applies.

I would not say that. Fiberglass sucks overall. Composite panels are easier to repair, paint, etc and stronger too.

Not what I'm saying. I'm talking about the mules and their body. If it's a composite, it's easier to change / create a new one, whatever. You can't necessarily derive what the car looks like - even with the camo - because if it's composite bodied, they could (relatively) easily change to something different.

One of the biggest Corvette salesmen in the USA says the Zora will be a 2020 model. That means almost 2 more years.

Not necessarily. The 2019 production starts in January so maybe in Jan 2019 the 2020 model run is started. That puts it out a little over a year from now. I cannot see them running the 2019 model from Jan '18 to Jun 2019' when most runs end.

Its called SMC (sheet mold compound). The Alfa 4c uses the same material. But it does have fiberglass in it.

The 4c uses a lighter weight version of it than the C7

The 2018 line is being shut down after only 10,000 units. My guess is cars are really backed up. My dealer has 111 (yes, one hundred and ten!) new C7's all with generous discounts. They've been cranking out about 30K a year since the C7 started. 2019 will be the last of the C7. The Zora is not the C8. There's another lower priced more traditional front engine car coming in 2020.

Isn't the lower sales volume a trend as a new model ages without any major changes?
Interest in the coming C8 series may also be exerting some influence on the current market to.

Correct, usually the longer the lifecycle, sales fall off. True for most products.

Though Canada which was always shorted on Corvette allocations has gotten many more Corvettes for the 2017 model year. Perhaps as a result dealers were discounting the list price on inventory. This is something else that didn't happen in recent years with 11k dollars off the list price on some models now...

Good lord. We are digging really deep about the fiberglass comments. We all know that today's construction methods are a thousand times different than the hand laid fiberglass models of old. I have owned a C4 that was hit and had to be repaired. We had to relay fiberglass to do so. On the C5 and newer you get a new panel that is cheaper and faster. They do not lay fiberglass on it to repair late model vettes.

I know several people that are tapping the brakes on new Corvettes, Ferraris and Porsches after seeing the mid-engine car making so much progress.

I heard 12k or Grand sports.

I think we will see a mid engined vette and shortly therafter a new front engined one.

I also hear that there are already dealerships that only sell vettes.

A quad cam mid engiend car from a team that cleary knows how to build great performing and handling cars, lest hope marketing and corp have not f-d it up

You and I agree on a lot but I think the C7 looks amazing. One of the best looking sports cars being made today. Better looking than most new Ferraris. Interior is still cheap though...

Point being, the C7 is successful and most dig it. So if thats an 'angry insect' then I think it will be fine.

I stopped by our local Chevy dealership yesterday to look at a grand sport they had. That, by the way, was a really nice car that I'm quite interested in. I asked about the mid engined Vette. They did confirm that it was going to be produced as of 2019 model car. Have to wonder if they'll introduce it at the north American auto show and then start production wait summer?
