This makes perfect sense, but it seems to go in cycles. For me, it was around the time of Nigel Mansell's and Williams' domination that I started to get bored with it. I'd watch the whole race, usually taped or DVR'd, but after the first few laps, I went into "scan" mode until "REPLAY" flashed up in the corner... then I'd go back and see what happened. But I clearly recall getting annoyed with Williams up front all the time by huge margins. Then there were the years of Ferrari and Michael Schumacher... same deal. To me, the most exciting times for F1 were when teams were in transition for dominance... then once they start to dominate for a few years, it's boring again. Point being, this has been going on for a long while... kind of a slow decay into "who cares". Which is why I'd be most interested in going back to what I feel makes a race interesting... unpredictability. You can argue about sound and budgets and everything else, but in the end, give me teams that are taking chances all the time right on the hairy edge and I'll show you excitement.
I don't hate the pictures, I just hate the commentators, so biased they are an embarrassment Just like with football, and presumably any other sport, in sky commentators eyes, any English/British person must be the best, regardless. If you listened to them about the England football team you'd think they win the World Cup once a year, the fact of the matter is they are so bad, they struggle to score a goal IF they qualify for the main tournament, and I don't think anyone, even themselves, truly believe they have a hope in hell of winning anything.
I just watched the entire broadcast on Sky. These guys blow away NBC. Not one blown kiss to McLaren or Alonso the entire race.
They get the live feed and brundle at least has a clue, having been there, even if it was a long time ago. The elton love does my nut though, they really need to tone it down, they never used to crow over vettel when he won four in a row, or Michael when he won all that he did. If they are going to commentate on a world sport, they need to remember they have to be unbiased
All it needs is some Hollywood type World Wrestling Entertainment. Like Michael Buffer announcing the drivers as they enter the track through a tunnel full of smoke and pyrotechnics. Yeah, that will rejuvenate the fans. Or not...
The only good thing about that entrance was the cheerleaders lining the route to track...... they were hot, typically American girls have the best technique as grid girls that's for sure!
I'm losing interest in F1 anyway but I do have Sky. What I have not done is subscribe to Sky sports and because I don't watch any sport other than motor racing and I refuse to pay £25/month (whatever) for F1 (and a host of other crap I have no interest in) which I'm struggling with anyway. At least F1 has become that lack lustre that not watching it at all is not great loss. I could watch it by other 'means' but have no interest to do so. I don't mind paying for something with value.
