40016 looks fantastic. i always like the early round bumper cars. interesting that wonderful verde urraco has the later square bumpers. original wheels mothballed?
Hi Martin, welcome to the Silhouette thread! I also prefer the early P111 style bumper with the single colour lens. If I remember correctly five cars also had the early bumper with the indicator fitted beneath the side light, before the late bumper with the twin colour lens was introduced. 20066 was originally delivered with chrome bumpers and was one of the two lamborghinis at the RAI car exabition in 1977. Together with an Espada. The former owner changed the chrome bumpers for the big black onces, not bad, but the P300 will have chrome bumpers again. Image Unavailable, Please Login
the original campys are nice sand casted witness marks with almost zero radius around the large barrel and lug nuts holes. i dont recall of hand how different the tecnomagesios are other then the backside are differenent and the casting method was altered being low pressure. the standard alloy repros from UK had a more generous radii around and heavier. the silver on your wheels is more brilliant than the dull greyish-silver on the stock cars ive seen. did u repaint them? they look new or maybe the cars ive seen had brake dust on them to tone them down. RAI ? black bumpers arent bad but chrome for me is wonderfully classic to match the trim. looking forward to see verde P300 with chrome bumpers. verde P300 must be exceptionally rare... most verde were P250s or P200s as i recall. years ago there was a place in the uk that was suppose to remake chrome urraco bumpers and were looking for a set to copy. i wonder what came of that? i desperately need to get an urraco one day.
RAI was the Amsterdam car exhabition. Mine green Urraco is the only P300 sold new in The Netherlands. Delivered in March 1975 to the Lamborghini distributor in Amsterdam and first registrated in January 1978. I will dig out a old photo from the 1977 RAI, which shows the car beside an Espada. The wheel of the 40016 are re-painted in the past. I also will give them e refreshment, but with keeping the handcrafted elements alive.
The records suggest that the seats of 20066 are verde chiaro. Is that correct? Smelt BV was the dealer so did the car remain unsold until 1978?
many thanks for sharing, luv them old period pics... i thought a met green P300 was rare but the only one? thats an excellent find on your part! so many of these wonderful color brown, green and silver cars got painted to a racy red hue once they were out of vogue in the 80's.
Yes the upholstery is Verde Chiaro and still original. In those days new sport cars were hard to sell and it took a while to sell the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mine green was the only P300 sold in The Netherlands. I don't know the exact numbers that are sold in green. But for sure they are rare in that color. I saw once one during the introduction of the Gallardo.
I'm trying to make a list of all existing Silhouettes. Please be so kind to mention in which country a chassis is, the color of the body and color of the upholstery. Your help will be very much appriciated. The first owner of 40016 was a lady! Which Silhouette was at the Geneva Car show? 40016 Image Unavailable, Please Login or 40032?
Great to see you found the way to the Silhouette thread. #40016 was with Max Bobnar for many years. When I met Max Bobnar last year he told me that he sold the car to Luxembourg 5 years ago (at that time). Later the car was in a collection in Belgium, this is probably were you bought the car earlier this year. On the guarantee certificate you shared is written that the first owner had her address in Great Britain. This is new information for me! Do you have any info whether this car was ever registered in Great Britain ? Together with some other enthusiasts/owners I did a research on the Silhouette and you will be surprised to see how many survived the years ! I will send you a pm for this.
Hi KC023515, I thank you for your reply to my question. Regarding the first owner of 40016, I think this English lady lives (or lived) in Switzerland an the car was always in Switzerland until Turbo Max sold it to Luxemburg, from where it went to Belgium. Last February I was lucky enough to get the possibility to buy 40016. It is a car with traces of use and I will keep it as original as possible. It has to be a car to ride. This is the Geneva 1977 Silhouette (photo by Rob Box), I think it is 40032, to Silhouette delivered to Willemine? Image Unavailable, Please Login
40016 was for many years at Rysanek's FAB Design until it went to Max who sold it in the end to Luxembourg. I already sent my pictues I made at FAB Design to Martin.
Hi Kevin, Thank you for the info. I'm looking now for the history between the first owner (Helen) and FAB design? That is a missing link. I expect the car was not directly sold to Rysanek. Martin
I knew I had seen the name Helen Babapulle before... She was also the first owner of P300 20114 consigned 18/07/75...
20114 is still in Switzerland, it's for sale at Lamborghini St.Gallen in commission on behalf of a private collection.
