Tonight! Buxton Bash! http://motorsports.nbcsports.com/2017/10/16/fifth-buxton-bash-set-for-this-week-to-benefit-komen-austin/ Clearport, 516 E. 6th St. in Austin, with doors opening at 7 p.m. CT and local time. The show starts at 8 p.m.
I made the pilgrimage down there this morning and then came back, great to see the vintage series making a return. Soggy morning with 89 percent humidity, glad the sun came out later. Randy (Schatten) found me walking though the plaza, always great to visit with him. Are pink tires Sooper soft? So many photos to edit.
Finally met the Big Texan in person and introduced him to my good friend Brenda Vernor from Maranello. Brenda was my guest and had never been to COTA. She also met Crinoid and his wife. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thx for bringing her. A sweetheart. Never got to go see her, stamina sux. But wonderful lady. Ferrari did little for her. She truly needs to write a book. The Sweater and the scion should shudder at that thought, treat her better. Cheap, so guess they’re waiting. Thank you again. Hope she cooked a bit.
Fun times, will load pictures tomorrow....did you say it's posted here somewhere, that giant camera lens in my face during Qualifying?? A shame his timing just missed the UT coeds from Mexico City, I had beside me all afternoon!!! Then, I stole a Venezualan from Guest Services, and it was GAME ON!
They re in trouble, for putting that Marlboro logo "out there", but I guess editing in the Media Center slipped up!! Thanks mi amigo!! That girl has me practicing Spanish....
It is odd, that FILA is the Ferrari "TV Red" that is almost orange, in natural light (but as you see looks RED on camera!) For Sunday, I switched to last years PUMA gear, which is actually going back to a more natural red....Red Tommy hooked me up, from Germany. Any Austin FCA members have the link to the Country Club Reception?? Rifledriver was there, ended up with Gold Top badges from Pirelli! I hooked him up, with A Lot Parking. COTA gets great score on that, as my two had gone astray, but knowing my PSL holders name, and showing them I HAD the seats (Friday, all five, from Craig Calder) they went for a Supervisor and handed me two sets. Bertocchi used the extra Sunday to get Brenda Verner (Enzo's secretary of 30 years) right into the front!! She like Kimi best!!!
Does anyone have it full screen?? I was approving the Ferrari placement, beside the Mercedes in Row 1 and Row 2!!! Thanks Jason
She says the memoir is "in the lock box", but she will not offer ONE tale of Enzo, keeping the professional faith. But, once she warms to you, she will share her opinion of any of the drivers, back to the early years!! She was good fun!!
Thanks much Alan for the parking pass. The champagne and food in the Pirelli box was great and we were right over about row 4 or 5 on the grid. Great hosts those Pirelli people. Brenda surprised us at the FCA party. Have not seen her in a long time. She used to stay with friends near us in California every year.
Well, that was Bertocchi's "surprise", not mine!! I just chauffeured in the Cadillac! Apparently things have "burned down" with the host in Carmel, 2017 was the first year she did not go, and per her conversation, Image Unavailable, Please Login never will again. That said, I believe that night she DID make connections with another California resident. I never did see her legendary cooking in action, and all of her recipes are Top Secret! Consider it my apology, for the Judging situation crossfire we found!!
So, as you were up there on Saturday...I thought I would make the long walk to T1. I found none of my old crew of "Wayfinders", I guess they have reorganized. So, I seated these UT coeds, Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login from Mexico City, and it was a lovely spot with the breeze blowing to watch Qualifying....
I had the Elevator Crew allowing her to use the Suite access, to get to the Velocity Lounge on 2. I think she enjoyed that, Image Unavailable, Please Login as a good place to rest! However, by Sunday, Guest Services was missing a worker!!
As we went thru Ticket Scan, a representative from FIA watched me rolling in....he followed us into the Suite Access Lobby, (Police guards at this point) and said: "You have the best bull*** of any Texan I have met this weekend! Here is today's wristbands, go on up!" and fitted both she and I out. Image Unavailable, Please Login And off we went to the Suites, right past the crew she served with, yesterday! She was sweet and felt very bad, about that. We used the alternate Freight Elevator, to go back down. The folks at American Compression were marvelous hosts, that morning. They also had the best event caps, they gifted me one after the race!
We stayed downstairs to watch the start.....I never did catch up to Craig Calder, upstairs on 2nd Floor. Linda kept David and I both busy. She was recovering from a fall, and the l Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login ast thing I wanted was for her to take another tumble!!!
So, they raced.....Vettel set a new course record! And ya'll know the rest!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh wait...Stevie Wonder! I walked out to hear a couple squabbling, abut "something".... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login I cheered them up with a lift West, to the Stage. She was a retired Houston TV newscaster...I thought she looked familiar. I ended up in the Green Room, another wrong turn! "A Stella please!!"
On the way out, much to my surprise was a San Antonio band, The Georges!! Great rockabilly, and drummer Chris Dodds, and guitarist Dennis Fallon are old friends! So, another beer, Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login while they wrapped up the set! Great to see COTA using local talent around the course!
..off to the West Stage, threading thru orange cones to park in the grass! That was a little "iffy" from the rains that morning, but all was well! The newscaster talked me into staying...... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
