Can anyone share insight on the 812 tire situation? There is a PIRELLI option box but none for Michelin. Is the Pirelli box to spec their new Corsa tire or is it just a check mark for brand (as opposed to performance/specification)? Any insight appreciated. Thanks. Me too! Tried. Wasn’t able to request as in past, hence the thread... Would consider Corsa if that’s what the check box was for, but fear just guarantees you the Zero. Leave unchecked and maybe end up with MPS4S...? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Evo test: "Fastest of all around both the dry and wet handling circuits, where it showed strong turn-in and mid corner grip and great exit traction that kept the swinging rear in check."
Here is an EVO test comparing 9 tires The Michelin’s were rated #1 overall http://www.tyrepress.com/2017/07/from-great-to-woeful-evo-tests-9-performance-tyres/ The Pz4 was a close second. Yes fastest but not in the wet due to aqua planing. Putting on a lot of miles driving curvy roads, I’ve had better overall performance going with the Michelin’s esp as the tires get worn. Plus the Michelin’s last much longer than the Ps in my hands. But both of these 4th generation tires are very very nice.
The only reason that the Michelin was rated as first was because they liked it subjectively more. Objectively though the Pirelli was the best in most metrics. I don't tend to believe what people might think, I rather prefer numbers. That said, I understand that the Michelins might be more to your liking. I would go for the Pirellis though.
You can see the entire test here: https://www.evomagazine.com.au/tyre-test/ I have usually preferred Michelin over Pirelli for feel. For whatever reason, most Pirelli tires feel to me like they are riding over the road, rather than gripping the road as it feels with the Michelins. My own unscientific take is I wouldn't be shocked to learn each brand tries to make their tires feel a certain way and that has become their brand identity, some might prefer one way over another. I think these tests show that overall both are great choices. As an aside, I loved the PZero Corsa tires on the Scud and I prefer the SottoZero winter tires over the corresponding Pilot Alpin.
Please note that the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is not the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S... I know it"s confusing, but I'm not responsible for it
Picking up from this thread in 2017... I'm looking for recommendations from the group on the best option for my 812 (arriving this week! . According to my requirements (see image attached), Tirerack.com actually recommends the Bridgestone Potenzas. Thoughts? https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?&tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+Sport&frontTire=735YR0PSXL&i1_Qty=2&autoMake=Ferrari&autoModel=812+Superfast&autoYear=2018&autoModClar=&vehicleSearch=true&rearTire=135YR0PSXL&i3_Qty=2 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thx. Not planning on tracking it in the short term. If I do, it'll be in the future and will do the same as with my F8: Buy cup2s for the TDs
My 296 came with bridgestones and surprisingly I really like them. But not sure if I like them more than the Michelins. In any case, anything but Pirelli.
