We see it the same way. Nico worked harder. Ask LH about NOT walking the track in Baku. You make your luck and Lauda will tell you Nico was able to get under LH's skin. He has said so in the press. Nico karted in between races and worked on his race craft. Making luck = Taking advantage of opportunity when presented. LH is now traveling less and working harder this year because he know where he lost it last year.

I thought it was because he gets to feed bottles his breakfast in the bowl in the morning, and take him for walkies, so he is confident that bottles is subservient......... oh well, vegan and more walking the track it is (or does he take bottles for walkies around the tracks now)

Mind you, it does show that he must be a dog whisperer, cos obviously his dog must get on well with another one in the house now, my Akitas don't soclailise that well at all, they fight each other on walks, let alone if I brought another dog with us!

Why don't smileys appear when I put them in a post? That's weird, I even tried editing and putting them back in, and they just don't appear?

This is obviously a LH bashing thread so I won't mention about NR's performances in the wet! :)

I think he knew he wouldn't be allowed to win again, he wasn't supposed to win last year, and played a very clever game where he appeared to be following the team game of supporting elton (like letting him thru in Monaco without a fight), yet cleverly kept his performances tight for the whole year, and avoided a fight which meant elton couldn't punt into him and blame Nico for it while riding off into the sunset like previous years and previous races. He fully expected shenanigans at the last race, and kept his head, and the look on toto and rats faces was gold when he crossed the line to win, they fully expected him to get up behind elton and try to pass him due to the slow speed he was going trying to push him into the pack, but to be fair, I think Vettel and the rest also saw the light and appeared less than interested in challenging him too hard, thus he was able to avoid an almost certain either DNF through a spin off, or penalty for a machined wheel banging from elton. Clever chap Nico, and blindingly fast on his day, and of course, retired as world champion, not as a beaten one

Fair comments, just not sure why he was so quick to quit, although if I had a missus like his, I'd want to spend more time at home! :)

He was not quick to quit or leave. He left after achieving his goal. All drivers leave. Its not that big a deal at all. He was in F1 for more than 1 year Im pretty sure.

Some drivers are happy to become 1xWDC, they do not need more. Apparently James Hunt was about the same...If Nico only wanted to become WDC at least once it is only consequent to leave and not stay half-hearted and unfocused...Others might think different (Lewis, Seb and Fernando) but I think for Nico it was OK.

Very true. Bottas is a JAG "Just Another Guy"

Incredibly average. Would really like to see Lewis vs. someone capable. He lost to Rosberg, so I highly doubt he would have an easy time against Ricciardo. Rosberg was obviously very fast but I think Ricciardo is better.

This. When Lewis would win Toto and Lauda would go nuts. When Rosberg would win it was a solemn clap. You could see Toto's reaction at Malaysia 2016 when Hamilton blew up and Toto realized the "wrong car" was going to win the WDC.

There is no replacement for commitment. The loss certainly changed Hamilton's focus and he just seems so much more locked-in this year. While the thread title can certainly be seen as a jab against Hamilton, I do believe Nico's win increased LH's commitment.

While Hamilton can only blame himself for losing last year, one still cannot deny Rosberg credit for pushing hard and never letting up.

And in addition he can be more relaxed and focused on Seb as he does not have to fear team intern problems...This certainly helps as well beside being more commited...
