Thank you for posting, I didnt take as nice of photos at the event. For water-based paint which is now the only paint here in California, it turned out amazing. It's tricky with a two stage metallic but i had a great painter and a little bit of luck.

Very nice 930. That is one amazing color. I'm glad to see it's shown at high level events too. I like to attend concours as well. But would could never enter as I need to spend more time detailing. Your 930 looks concours ready though.

Looks to be supremely original. Anymore pictures?

Anyone care to guess what hagerty's values will look like in a few weeks?

Current excellence market guide shows $100,000 to $190,000.

That '79 930 at the Newport Car Museum is stunning. LMAO, the museum references the, "Widowmaker, being on every teenage boy’s wall next to his Farah Fawcett poster", how true!
    Thanks for sharing.

It is a Ruf in cosmetics and vin# only
"The chassis is an original Ruf but the motor and transmission are not original, it's a standard 3.3 turbo with a 4 spd transmission, with powerhaus headers, koklen intercooler, and a ruf dual pipe muffler, I hope this clears up my post"

Silver metallic 1979 930 with light red leather interior.

It would be interesting to find out exactly when Porsche transitioned U.S. 1979 930 leather interior colors to two-tone (w/ black) for Light Red (Code 95), Yellow (Code 96) and White (Code 97). From known examples, it didn’t occur exactly at the 1980 model year (continue 1979 series) but may have occurred when the adjustable headlight bezels and Nippondenso air conditioner compressors were fitted (somewhere around VIN 1000+).

    Beautiful clean 79 930.

Looks to be a RoW? SN?

What is the decal in the rear quarter window?

Do you have pictures of the interior?

Got it in the Porsche Museum in 2016. they had some special exibition there for the 40 years anniversery. Dont know if they still have it. Next time I am there, I will check.
My powerplant looks a bit different. I have the 964 Intercooler , plug and play, with some other adjustments. Runs nice and sounds great.

    Question. I am looking at a very low mileage 1979 930 Vin = 9309800947

I did a search and another car comes up - a 935 DP35 Group 5 Competition Coupe that was at Bonhams with the same number listed as its Chassis no.

    Is this possible?

Also, the car I am looking at is presented as the most original, and has the most complete maintenance history, they have seen. But my amateur eyes spot no sugar-scoop lights, and no 85 speedometer that this vin would dictate.

Are these things big deals? Should they be able to provide me the service records for these changes? Needless to say we are talking a big investment here.

Thanks in advance for your input.

CPR Classic has 9309800947 for sale
    http://cprclassic.com/porsche911/2261/

True factory 1979 935's had VIN's that started with 930990, this car is listed as a DP conversion and carries a North American 1979 930 VIN sequence. Definitely should not be same VIN as the 930 at CPR.
The VIN plate is normally riveted in that area and is only used for RoW cars. Besides using a RoW VIN plate with a NA VIN, the plate is not in the proper position (note the hole to the left of the plate, the mounting holes were always on ALL 1979 930's), Besides those issues something just doesn't look right with the VIN plate.

9309800947 is part of the 930 North American (NA) 1979 Model Year (MY) Type 2 Build and as such did not have the earlier "snorkel" head light washers. The headlight assemblies are not correct (but can be replaced). 9309800947 should have an 85 MPH Speedometer, documentation should be obtained.
For the NA 1979 MY 930's; the Type 1 was built on a 1979 Tub, the Type 2 was built on a 1980 Tub, there were subtle changes between both.

930 - thank you for such a detailed response.

CPR Classic has extensive records on the car, and have been really helpful - classy operation for sure. Although they don’t seem to have documentation on the speedometer change.

Funny thing, I referenced ferrarichat to the salesman, and he asked respectfully why I would go to a Ferrari sit for Porsche info. So I explained the 930 threads to him...
