i have a Paint issue with my car. The paint has cracked between the rear wing and the point it joins the roof ( after the window Louvre. I have seen many 308’s with the paint separated at this point with a thin presumably flexible paint? or mastic ? May be. I presume moisture has got inside this crack an the Paint has now bubbled at the crack. Any ideas how to fix?

Jason, I am from England. You may call the wings fenders? If you are filling your car with fuel the area i am talking about is the join between the fender and the start of the roof just to the right of the filler cap opening louvre door.

    Cheers

Not supposed to be painted there, at lease on a QV. I would expect the same for others. That joint is supposed to be filled with back flexible caulk. SOunds like the car was poorly repainted.

As they are posting, that joint should be black flex, not painted....easily solved.

Cut it out and refill it!

Thanks for replies. Does anybody know who manufactures the black flex material so I can pass the information to the paint shop.

    Cheers

That's a bubble from underlying rust ----- you have other spots as well (see circled).

All of these are common rust points for the pre-QV 308 (with non-galvanized sheet metal bodies).

It's called "Bulkhead edging", very common on boat panels.

Yep, that seam should be a black mastic, it flexes too much for paint to ever withstand......
