Very nice. I think a lot owners will do this mod, especially as you don't even have to remove the wheel.
I find the LEDs way too bright, especially at night (on Scuderia), so you could increase the value of the LED resistors to make dimmer also.
Is the supply to the board hidden as I cannot see the supply wires in either of your pic's? Very sneaky! How did you get them to all come on?

Yes, you can modulate the LED brightness by changing the resistors. Actually I decreased a bit the resistor for the blue LED as it is a bit less efficient. Nothing very significative though.
There is a 6 pins connector on the rear face of the module. You can see it on the Macarbon website. I just used a similar connector and powered the 5 LEDs in parallel.

This is an absolutely great modification. Im getting the whole steering wheel with leather no carbon so I hope I can pop out the display just as easy.

One thing I would guess everyone knows that they light up really quick. The one LED that should be bright and different is the last LED. When I built my other car with a full MoTec ECU which had shift lights on the steering wheel , while it was great to see them light up it was only the last one that the corner of my eye was in tune with and I made that white while with all the others green. The MoTec allowed me to scroll 4 different colours but I found white as the most visual.

Eric - thanks for posting the pic above. As I read through this, I was thinking to myself, "three green, followed by yellow and red for the last LED would be great". I like it!

That's super awesome! I don't have the LED's on my car (personally not a big fan of them), but I have to say your update there is really fantastic!

After a few drives, I am more than pleased with the mod.
Now, it's very easy to identify the 4th and the 5th LEDs ;)

Maybe you could propose this to SF. I think they would love to charge more money for this option. And maybe you could get a few bucks yourself!

    Eric,

I love this set-up! Would like to do the same for my 2011 458 Italia.
I have found the green LED on the website of rs-particuliers, but I can't find the orange/amber LED.
Could you please post a link?

    Merci Beaucoup :D

    Mark,
you will have to unsolder the old LEDs and to solder the new ones in place.
