Hi. I am looking for the brown bag for the charger. I have the charger and a broken bag (the car was in an accident). I tried to repair it at a leather specialist, but he dod not want to do it as it is made of a leather-look-alike material (plastic). The result will not be good, so I search for snother bag. I have the charger, both cables, but NOT the connector on the car toplug it into. This is a 4-pin round plug that unable the engine to start if it is connected, so not just a matter of making a plug. How could I get this wiring harness?

    Thanks
    Erik

Thank you very much. There are three pins in the contact. Obviously, one is + and one is - but what is the third one? I have heared that there will be a small charge light in the instrument panel and that the car won't start if the charger is connected. Is this true?Anybody who knows? Thanks.

In the 360 and the 430, the third pin provides +12 volts to the instrument cluster and the starter inhibit relay. This turns on the battery charging symbol in the cluster and prevents the car from starting while plugged in.

I don't have the 456 wiring diagram to confirm, but I suspect it will be the same.

I have a 430 charger like that for sale. I totaled my 2006 F430, but the charger was not it in.. now I have a spare one. What is a fair price (have the whole thing)?

If you are still looking for that charger cable, here is another alternative to the other expensive options. Eurospares has a used charger cable #200857 for $50.

This charger cable is electrically identical to the 456 charger cable, but has a slightly different mounting bracket. The bracket can probably be modified to fit your car.

Thank you. From my charger manual that came with the charger, the 550 version has two clamps, but the 456M have the plug. Pretty strange. Where is the third wire from the plug supposed to be connected?

The third wire is called the sense wire and goes to the instrument panel and a starter inhibit relay. It is just 12 volts tapped from the charger's +12 volt output. It does two things - illuminates the charger icon in the instrument panel and prevents the car from being started. It is a safety interlock intended to keep you from draging your charger down the driveway. It is not really necessary for charging the battery. Any two-wire charger will work equally well, you just won't have the safety interlock.

Interesting! I like that idea. Any chance you would also know where to connect that third wire on a 550...? The charger did come from a crashed 550 if memory serves me right. Thanks alot for great help!

I am not familiar with the 550, but the 550 battery diagram does not show the use of a three-wire charging connector. It only shows a cable with two battery clamps on the end, so the 550 may not be equipped for the third wire (sense wire) scheme. The 575 does have that capability, as does the Enzo, 360, 430, 456. 599, 612, and possibly others.
