Who says that the NART Spyders are for cruising? 1967 Sebring 12 Hours, 09437 driven by Denise McCluggage and Marianne Rollo to 17th Overall and 2nd in Class!

The incredibly beautiful 1965 275 GTB-C 06885 getting airborne at Quiddelbacher-Höhe during the 1965 Nürburgring 1000. The car finished 13th overall, 2nd in class before winning its class at the Le Mans 24hr a month later. It is probably one of the most valuable F car today...

06885 Entry from Écurie Francorchamps driven by Mairesse/"Beurlys" Blaton at the 1965 Le Mans 24hr. The car finished 3rd Overall and won the GT Class. Note the improvised cooling on the bonnet ;-)

Hi, can anyone please tell me if the hood scoop and rear gills seen in my 07271 GT pictures are factory original?

    Pedro,
s/n 7271 is 1 of 10 275 GTB Cliente Competizione versions. I don't know about the hood scoop but the rear fender vents are authentic.

Like 375+ said above, I don't know if the hood scoop was from the factory but it was certainly raced in period with one. See here: http://ferrariemportugal1966.blogspot.co.uk/

Thank you both, it does seem everything was original, i was surprised when i saw the car because the only 275 i knew had rear gills were 06885 , o6701, and another one (don't know chassis number).
Also , if i'm not mistaken, Ferrari won gt class in Le mans with the 275 in 65/66/67, but they all look like regular 275gtb/4, although with aluminium bodies, but the bodies are just like any ordinary 275, unlike 7271....wich is a bit strange, because if there were 10 gtb/c, that i supose had "something extra" why weren't they used at LM by teams like Filipinetti or nart?

The other one was 07185, which did have a special alloy body with a GTO like nose but no extra gills. 275 GTB Competizione Speciale 06885 won the GT class in 1965, but that doesn't look like an ordinary 275 at all as you know. 275 GTB/C 09035 won the GT class in 1966 coming 8th OA and 275 GTB/C 09079 won the GT class in 1967 11th OA. These Long Nose 275 GTB/C cars, of which 12 were made, although they may look like an ordinary 275, they are far from it. They are actually more special than the 10 Short Nose Competizione Clienti cars like 07271 which mechanically were very similar to the road 275GTBs apart from having alloy bodies with cosmetic differences, a large fuel tank with outside fuel filler, a standard engine with wet sump but with 6 carbs. The Long Nose 275 GTB/C had a very thin gauge aluminium body and wider rear wings to house the bigger 15" wheels, the chassis was lightened and stiffened, the engine was to 275 LM spec but due to a homologation paperwork error only had 3 carbs, but of a special kind and use of magnesium in the engine and drive train. They were actually built by the Ferrari Racing Dep't. They are very special cars indeed.

Yes, my mistake about 65, 6885 is indeed a very diferent car from the regular 275.
Thank you Steven for clarifying and explaining this to me, so actually there were 10 275 gtb/c short nose (built in 1965 i guess) and 12 275 gtc/c long nose (built in 1966 ?), in adition to the 3 275 gtb speciale (built in 1965).

Here is a detail shot of s/n 07477 taken at the Quail this past August, it is one of the 10 Cliente Competizione GTBs. For some reason this car has steel bodywork, not alloy. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Very interesting. May I know why you say it has a steel body?

I possibly have confused s/n 07477 and s/n 07577(which is documented steel bodywork, see photos of foglie di montaggio). I don't remember seeing the roof seams characteristic of the 275 alloy cars but I don't have any good photos of the roof. Perhaps this series didn't have them? BTW s/n 07477 developed peak power of a paltry 240 hp.
