Thank you for your reply and the pics of the build sheets. Regarding 07577, I may be wrong, but doesn't "in acciaio tipo alluminio" mean steel type aluminium or aluminium type steel, meaning it does actually have an aluminium body?

The short nose alloy Competizione Clienti cars do not have the roof seam. I have read that apart from the Competizione Clienti cars, the alloy body option for the 275 GTB road cars was introduced on the long nose, so an alloy bodied short nose standard non comp. road 275 GTB was never made???

Unlike the long nose 275 GTB/C, which had dry sumped 275 LM spec engines (with 3 unique Webers), the engines in the Competizione Clienti cars were standard wet sumped road engines, but with the 6 rather than 3 double choke Webers, so a 3 carb 275 GTB engine would presumably make even less than the 240 bhp of 07447?

Great post, thanks Steven. My Italian is a bit rusty(pun intended) but I think that "acciaio" refers to steel, done in the style of the aluminum berlinetta. I believe that there were a number of alloy bodied short nose road cars. I'm sure that Dyke or Marcel can straighten this out.

Thank you again. Your Italian is better than mine I assure you. :) Yes, let's hope Marcel and Dyke will clarify.

I was referring to the 240 BHP of 07477, not 07447 as my post 1176 says. This 10 minute limit to edit is very annoying.

Just to clarify a few things about Ferrari dyno sheets. You must remember the factory did not dyno the production engines to try to tune them for power, rather the need was to see if the engine was "good enough" to put into a car. As such, the actual dyno horsepower results varied quite a bit from engine to engine. Also, sometimes the dyno operator made slight errors in calculating the "correction factor" and this resulted in varying power numbers. I will admit that 240 BHP for a six carb 275 is pretty low, as they normally developed 260-265 bhp. I have seen three carb 275 motors in the 223 - 250 bhp range on factory dynos. A very good shop here just completed a 330 engine to "stock" specs and it produced 268 bhp on their dyno. This is outstanding, as factory numbers for 330's usually run in the mid 250's. The factory power claims were fairly honest up until the early 1960s. About that time, apparently, the advertising department started to inflate the numbers.

Thank you, Dyke. Can you clear up a few questions that Steven and I have? Did s/n 07577 have steel bodywork in the style of the alloy Cliente Competizione, or was the bodywork alloy? Did the Cliente Competizione series have the roof seams as on the later alloy street GTBs? How many short nose alloy cars(street) were built and did they have the roof seams? Many thanks for your help.

The car is in metallic blue.
It was my father’s car when I was up to 4. The thing I most remember is that it was the only car that made me feel more pressure on my back than on my bottom, when accelerating. While roaring.

    375+:

    1. 7577 was "steel" bodied.

    2. I do not recall seeing "roof seams" in the 1965 "Clienti Competizione" cars.

    3. In addition to the above mentioned "Comp" cars, I have recorded the following "alloy" Short Nose 275's:

6905- New to Auto Becker, may not be actually alloy.

6925- New to Enrico Wax, definitely a special car, not sure of bodywork.

7307- New to Australia, may not be actually alloy.

7495- New to New York, may not be actually alloy.

7637- New to Italy, may not be actually alloy.

I would welcome PROVABLE information about these cars.

06905 is a regular STEEL car, not alloy. Despite some 1970's adverts where an engine out of that car was advertised and the text suggested it came from an alloy car.

06925 is an alloy bodied car and it has three air vents in the rear fenders and a shortnose. In fact just one week ago I located a gorgeous old color photo of this car (taken 1966 in Forte dei Marmi, Italy) where you can see all these details plus the Italian registration plate which clearly identifies the car. Here's a nice letter by Dr. Enrico Wax to Mike Parkes.

07307 is not listed as alloy in the factory records.
This is the car whose first Australian owner had it fitted with incorrect locally made tyres to save cost. The owner gave it to his son to use on his honeymoon, they had a blowout at high speed and hit a tree, some height off the ground, car written off on the Hay plains. Both the driver and his wife were killed.

I know that some literature based on some Factory info (?) list 7637 as alloy; while we don't know for sure ( nor the factory for that matter ) if ever and when it may have been converted from alloy to steel and/ or from SN to Long Nose ( but definitely appears in Ferrari Year book 1967 racing at Pontedecimo Giovi as long nose) , it is definitely today and since last 45 years or so for sure a steel car. With no trace of any repair on the nose that could be seen when we restored the car, so if any changes were done, they would have been at least from A pillar if originally steel or a full rebody in period if it was originally alloy. Still a wonderful car to drive!

Thank you Dyke, Marcel and Bira.

Dyke, may I ask what evidence leads you to believe 07577 is steel bodied? Are there any other documents that support that conclusion other than the build sheet as 375+ posted or have you inspected the car yourself?

Steve: I have not inspected the car. However, both the Build Sheet and the Alestimenti Sheets state "steel body". What the Build Sheet is trying to say is the car has a steel bodied version of the "normal" alloy 1965 Clienti Competizione bodywork.

    Great! Thank you, Dyke.

Does it state in any of the documents whether 07577 has the 140 litre fuel tank?
