Well ... Always LONG discussions ... tried all ...

Now I go for Michelin Pilot Super Sports 3 because 4 is not yet approved in K code (= Ferrari approved).

Next will most probably be MPSS 4 K ...

I think you will get Michelins at no extra costs on your new car ...

    1) For the 488 GTB, Michelin Pilot Super Sport (MPSS) is the one having a uniform Ferrari homologation (K3) in correct sizes front and rear, it's not the case of the new MPS4S (Michelin Pilot Sport 4S), which is the one assumed to eventually replace in Michelin range the MPSS (the MPS4S is different from the MPS4 which targets more common cars). I got the MPSS K3 on my car and they are very good.
    2) Pilot Sport Cup 2 exist with Ferrari homologation and in correct sizes for the 488 GTB, since the sizes are exactly the same for the 488 GTB as for the 458 Speciale. They are certainly better to grab a few tenths on track but (like all track-oriented tyres) are not as good on the wet. Apart from the significantly higher prices, they also do not have the correct load ratings for the 488 GTB (the 458 Speciale had lower load ratings, the differences are not dramatic but I guess it's the reason why neither Michelin nor Ferrari advise to use the PIlot Sport Cup 2, although Ferrari fits the press cars with them for track tests).

My 488 spider was delivered with the new P Zeros, and I have a lot of miles with the MPSC2 for comparison plus many miles on the old P Zero with various cars. The new P Zero is much better than the old one and works really well with the 488.

Agree, I initially had Michelins on the 458, and they lasted a long time, but had little grip when very cold, but otherwise fine. I then had Pierelli P-zeros, and had better grip, but frankly in hot wheather (40C+) like we get in the Carolinas ever August, they really did not last long (3,500 -4,500 miles).

So, my trade offs would be better grip, or more durability (I am sure M and P an make similar tires with same characteristics, but this was my experience). So, I went with Pirelli on my new 488, even though that choice was $1,623 more expensive than what the dealer suggested for a set of Ms (US dealer).

I prefer the Michelins, the best balance for me between grip and wear.
Also had Michelins on my F430 Spider.

The pzero is a now a recently new compound developed for the 488 this year - supposedly much better than the pzero on the 488's pre 2017. I spec'd the Mich bc I prefer them but got the pzero. Wasnt sure at first and contemplated having them changed but so far i'm surprisingly very happy with them and, 99% of my miles are performance/sporty driving miles. I think the sidewall on the mich does looks better on the rim over the pzero though for sure. jmo. But is Pzero better than pss as a handling tire ? I can honestly say it's definitely not worse - and maybe well be a tad better i think. The pzeros weak point has always been in getting noisy after 5k kms. The mpsc2 is the better performance tire than the pss and are surprisingly good in the wet too. Its the cold that affects them. I think either the pss or new pzero are equal choices excepting the Mich sits nicer on the rim looking at the sidewalls.

Did anyone pay for "other tyres" than PZero ?
