Look above, we already have a steady thread about it Steven ! https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/488-gto.550681/page-28#post-145684354
FINALLY!!!. After checking this thread daily for what seems forever, we finally have something. If what Sergio Marchionne said is true about the styling roots then I beat they are talking about the last Enzo era style like: Testarossa, 308, 355, 288 GTO, 512 BBi I bet now more then ever this WILL be called the 488 GTO and they will definaley do many styling cues that points to the 288 GTO. It looks awesome already
If the car is not limited (and I do not think it will be), there is no way Ferrari will use the GTO name. Could be wrong, let’s see Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Dial down your expectations a few notches, otherwise you're in for an unpleasant surprise... Okay, that was half joke... but half serious!
Like all the VS, it will be time limited - they could make a guesstimate of the expected production and set a fixed limit close to that number as a marketing trick. One may argue it would seem a ridiculously high number for a so-called limited edition, but inflation has been going on for a while: 340 F50, 400 Enzo, 600 599 GTO, more than 700 LaFerrari (when including the Aperta), 800 F12 TdF... all being V12, which are typically far more exclusive than the V8. They could plan 2000 berlinettas and another batch of 600 Apertas for instance.
I want to see how close I can get to the pin........so.........my predictions. -Will be called the 488 GTO - Will feature styling cues from the 288 GTO to harken back - Will have between 720-750 hp - Will be at a minimum as fast as the LaFerrari or slightly faster around Fiorano and other circuits - Will have an option for Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. - Will be such a bench mark that it will overshadow Huracan Performante and 911 GTRS I really do feel that this will be as big as when the F12 tdf came out. It will make jaws drop. Can't wait to see how close my predictions are. Adds to the suspense for me!!
720-750 are quote a lot of a hp increment respect to 670, I think that the 488 successor will not overcome 780, so likely this would have something between 710-720, anyway, the important thing is to put down the torque If it would have 750 HP and Trofeo R it would match LaF around the twisty Fiorano
I agree, a 720-750 hp will a big jump in HP........but easily obtainable for a V8 Twin Turbo. I figured it would have more then 700hp , but guessing 700-750hp is a no brainer so I tried to shorten the spread. Definatley between 720-750hp is the range the 488 GTO is looking to be in. I actually think that the 488 GTO on Pirelli P Zero Corsas could at "least" match the LaFerrari. This is going to be a lightweight, track/aero focused Ferrari with even more HP and Torque. Surely a nimble 488 GTO could out gun the heavy, bulkier V12 LaFerrari even without the Trofeo R tires. I just think,Ferrariy will make the Pirelli Trofeo R tires and option as they are going to want to increase every possible way of harnessing the massive HP driven thru 2 rear wheels. Its going to be an insane car, theres just no two ways about it!
Surely will be a real joy to drive on track, frankly speaking, I think that the advantage of LaF in straight line and acceleration will be maintained, since the hybrid torque is marvellous, but in a twisty track as Fiorano the 488 VS could get really very close to 1.20
Who would trade a Speciale for the new 488VS ? I know we do not know much about the new car yet but we can probably guess and I am assuming it will be great to drive. I hope I don't have to make that decision but with an 812 coming I can see it getting a little difficult justifying a 488 VS (if allocated) to Mrs AJR550 as well as keeping the Speciale.
No way I would. I think this 488VS will be a weird car - call it the red-headed middle stepchild. It will be the limited edition car between the universally loved/critically acclaimed naturally aspirated Speciale and the dreaded next generation of Ferrari's hybrid "power units" - no thanks!
Depends on what you are after - besides investment considerations, I take my 488 GTB over a 458 Speciale and will certainly prefer the 488 VS. Many despise the turbochargers but to me they solve the lack of torque of a small block V8.
an appreciative member of another forum wrote that this Saturday the 488VS will be presented in the factory to a couple of well selected people. so. who from us will be there?
From what I have heard, there will be a dealer preview followed by a VIP client preview in January. As to guess what kind of numbers we will see, I bet they will follow the Speciale and make the coupe a "special" car and the Aperta version the "Limited Edition" car. I am guessing no to Hybrid and no to the GTO moniker.
