Awesome work, looks like a Countach in the background - would be good to post resto of that!
Looks fantastic! I love the flares. Awesome attention to detail. Is there more body work to be done at the paint shop? Seems like there are some waves by the welds.
Tomorrow it goes on the trailer to the paint shop. We put some temporary lettering on the back so no one would get confused what it is.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
#2 is now ready for one more light blast and epoxy primer. It then goes to speedworks in Santee for paint. Brad had been doing all mt Ferrari Dinos for years so this will be a change of pace. #3 is very close to having all the metal work also. such a great looking project. i wonder if its not too late to weld on the early fender flares? the ones used in the ST, 2.8 RSR and 3.0 RS/IROC are very different in shape from the 930 flares.
yes rsr flares have a "home built" quality to them. thats they way they came from the factory. if you look at the original cars there is a lot of discrepancy amongst them.
#1 is close to paint now. Working on the design to mimic the iconic 917 Hippie car. Freeman Thomas is helping the design! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jon, thank you for including me! Truly an honor to contribute! My old boss at Porsche, Dick Soderberg led the design of the graphics for the Hippi 917. Dick also designed the body design and original Targa Florio graphics (Gulf Blue/arrows) for the 908/3, designed the graphics for the “Pink Pig”, did the body design for 935, led the design team on 959, 964, 965 and 993 and much much more! I was really fortunate to be mentored by him as a young designer. Freeman
freeman's buddy victor has a hippie graphics done up on a long nose S a couple of years ago. its cool.
Just an update on my 4 RSR builds. #1 which is Gulf Livery only needs clear coat and cut and buff should be back to me in about 3 weeks for assembly. #2 goes to the paint shop next week. This is my favorite one with the graphics adapted to this from the Porsche 917 "Hippie" car. Freeman Thomas is doing the design and you will see the master in action. It's really cool that Freeman liked this project enough to get involved! I could not of done this project without him.
