No we get it...he's there paying Williams money they need because they can't afford F1 much otherwise. So Williams can't lose him...probably.

But here's the thing, lets say Williams hires a ''Stroller approved'' teammate, and because of that they'll sink a few places in the constructors title...that'll be more money lost than Stroller brings in! Williams desperately needs a very fast driver rather than a Stroller approved one or one that is broken.

 

Saw his mom today during qualifying. I thought she looked pretty hot...at least for guys my age.

 

She reminds me of Vanna White.

This may have been one of his worst performances so far. consistently a second a lap down, had a fairly decent battle with Grosjean, though that car is much slower so shouldn't have happened actually. After that each time he battled with anyone he flat spotted his tyres so badly he needed to pit, utterly useless performance once again.

I see no positives to keeping him at williams, even the significant pay he brings will not be enough next year. I predict Mclaren and Renault will beat Williams next year and Williams may end up battling with a combined force of Haas and Sauber (if the the latter get 2018 Ferrari engines).

 

I have to admit that the guy did better than expected. I thought that he would be crashing more often. He doesn't look F1 material anyway.

After watching the Williams movie, this entire situation looks even "better".

 

Congratulations to Lance Stroll!

It must be difficult to finish last in a race. Not many do it.

 

The problem isn't crashing...it's being slow. He's driving so slowly he doesn't crash.

Maldonado often drove over (his?) limit and crashed often....but his speed was respectable compared to the rest. Anyone can drive a second a lap slower than the car is capable of (with Massa being old and that incident in 09, I'm willing to bet Alonso for instance would've been easily 1.5 to 2s a lap faster than stroll), and not crash it.

 

Why are you guys ragging on Lance? He had a perfect strategy for today's race:

Finish last.

That way anything he does next year looks like progress!

I am one of those trying to give Lance a bit of slack,however Abu Dhabi really was a shambles.He seemed to be having tyre troubles ,amongst other thing.He made the (too early?) call to come in early after flat spotting,and it just went downhill from there...even in Qualy he was well off the pace...

“I am sure they need to have a good driver to replace me otherwise it will not be very great,” Massa said.
