Maybe, pushing circa 2012.

Toyota thinks a more detailed and complex design will work for the new edition of the Supra...

....think I'm not going to apologize for my automotive designs from school anymore.....at least the things I did looked like wannabe Chaparal or Lola race cars, not angry insects or fish.....
....guess I should have rescued them from the dumpster after all...

 

Musk's new company has fitting name....Could this be what the future holds for him after Tesla folds? Scares me to think what cars will look like in 25 years. But then again we were supposed to have flying cars by 2000 I do think the glass is interesting. Must be plastic with some crash protection built in?

I’m sorry (not really) but this latest piece of work from Bangle seriously knocks him off the perch of any credibility he has ever had. I get the idea of coming at a new car design language from left field but this proposal of his comes from deep space and a world where 3D doesn’t exist. The man simply does not understand the rational concept of beauty and desirability. He just does not have the sensitivity to create products with the love at first sight factor. Ok, so he’s one of those new fangled disrupters of conventional approaches, but there is no reason, again, NO REASON, to design a horrific looking product. He’s known for his ability to sell fridges to the Eskimos and crosses to atheists but so was that bare butted emperor with his new clothes. All I can say is that this design is a good example to show your children as to why they shouldn’t do drugs.

Really, it epitomizes "Lamborghini"; too much is not enough!

I do wonder, is there an Audi Q8 lurking under that superficial makeup?

 

I'm sure they share lots of parts, but I don't know about the actual platform.

I also bet they sell a lot of them, as ugly is in.

So there you go. It does look less heinous in darker colors. The yellow version made my eyes bleed.

 

There could be a nice looking SUV under all that camouflage.

It's "Longer, Lower, Wider" ...than the Q7 and Cayenne... it absolutely looks like a Lambo.


I was thinking about how much better the Alfa Stelvio looks... not earthshaking, but v. nice.

 

for those of you who are habitues on this thread, can you spare me the trolling and tell me if somewhere in the 232 pages there is a discussion about the fisker karma design?

well i love the car. i was smitten when i first saw it in 2010, and then finally bought one a couple months ago.
it may not run as well as a tesla, but it is just a show stopper.
so i was curious as to what dedicated car design folks thought about the shape - i am looking for a sort of 'cumberford perspective' like they have in SCM every month.

 

I do not remember there being a discussion of the Karma in the past.

I have liked the exterior design a lot; can't say anything about the interior since I remember nothing about that.

 

the interior is really slick.
there is no clutter. smooth expanses of flowing leather. real aluminum and stainless metal bits. hardly any buttons.
if you look for images you will find some reviews as well - mostly critical.
i looked at these prior to purchase, but was willing to give it a go.
now that i have owned it for a while, i understand some of the objectives behind the design, and disagree with some of the criticisms - i think some of those people just came onto the car, looked at it for 10 minutes, and then wrote a review and did not really understand the thinking behind it.
the driver interface is not great, but it is not as bad as all that - but thats only a design element insofar as it is the replacement for many buttons in a normal car. it does away with multiple functions that usually clutter the dash.

i think the interior is very comfortable, very stylish, and relatively well executed for such a low volume production.

 

For a while, anyway, the Germans had it right...
