Not a big problem as I followed the thread now and get updates but figured you should be made aware. Also didn’t get an alert for your reply to my post here so will have to follow this thread too I guess
if you are staying on https, if you are not hard linking anywhere else with http, your local security not too much (cookies), you select Remember Me when logging in then it shouldn't log you out.
On the Page X of Y <Prev _ _ _ _ _ _ at the top and bottom of each page, is there a way to add more contrast to the page number box or the number that is being displayed? The greyout in the displayed box would be easier to read if slightly darker or another color rather than so light. I realize that making the box too dark might make the page number in the box then unreadable. Just a suggestion.
Just wanted to follow up on my request back on the first few pages and thank you guys for fixing the search in classifieds. Much easier now that I can search for 3 digit model numbers.
Requires a lot of work, unfortunately. Right now not a huge priority but we have looked into it for the future
Two step authentication (with Android device) works fantastic. Just enabled and used it via Google Authenticator service. I was able to scan the Fchat QR barcode on my phone, and the Authenticator worked immediately to provide the rolling access codes. In this respect the move to XenForo is a big step in the right direction for everyone's security on Fchat. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Can't. Now, they should show as read once you click on them, and the "ALERT" should reset to zero once you open them from the link in your user panel. The asterisk indicates if you've read it. Now, there are some alert settings you can change in Alert Preferences. the link to that is also in your control panel which you access by clicking your user ID in the top right of the page. D
I guess I shouldn't complain, but my "renewal" subscription date was 11/04/17. I didn't get my usual message to renew and i'm still showing as a silver subscriber. I sent a message (i think) to Rob, but never received a response. Probably because i have no clue how to operate this new sight. And for the record, I still like the old format much better. Joe
How do I add a poll to an existing thread I created? On the old Fchat, there was a button where the thread starter could add a poll -- I don't see how to do that on the new Fchat.
You can add a poll at the time of thread creation, but not afterward. You will need to ask a mod to add it.
Thanks for letting me know. Can it be changed back to allowing the thread owner to add a poll after the thread has been created (like the old Fchat)? The reason I believe this is important is because, for any topic that is even remotely complex, it is helpful to have the thread run for a while so everybody understands what is being discussed before having them vote on the poll. Examples of this are anything techie where we need to discuss first, then poll. This is the thread I want to add a poll to -> https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/can-you-share-your-cutting-the-cable-cord-experiences-no-p-r-please.565289/ (not everyone understood what it meant to drop cable content, so a poll wouldn't have been useful to add before it had been discussed a bit). Can I create a new thread that has the poll and then ask a mod to merge the two threads. Will that work?
I don't recall the old Fchat allowed you to add a poll after without a time limit. I'm pretty sure it was only allowed within the editing window of the first post in the thread. In any case, the "after" option isn't something that is consistent with the current policy on shorter editing windows. In addition to asking a mod to add a poll, you could try the new thread with a poll and asking a mod to do a thread merge. I think the poll would merge with all posts, but I haven't confirmed it personally yet. You could be the test case.
Thanks for the response. I'll create a new thread, if you or another mod can merge it great, if not, I'll live. On the old Fchat, the person who created the thread could add a poll at any time after. I did that several times long (many days) after the thread was created and the edit window expired. It makes sense to leave the poll option open forever because many times it's better to only add the poll after some discussion has taken place. Probably the best example I can think of is the infamous 0846 thread. If a poll was added on day one, it would have been a popularity contest and 99% of people voting early in that discussion did not have enough information for the poll results to mean anything. Much later on (years), people now know 100 times more than what they did at the beginning, so a poll added much later would have value when a poll immediately had zero real value. This is not an endorsement for adding a poll to 0846 discussion, just using it as an example.
I created the new thread with the poll, was hoping that thread would take over, but both are actively being updated now, so it would be great if a mod can merge the two threads: New thread with Poll: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/poll-how-do-you-view-cable-tv-movie-content.565428/ Original thread created earlier: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/can-you-share-your-cutting-the-cable-cord-experiences-no-p-r-please.565289/ Merged thread title: Poll: How do you view "cable" (TV/Movie) content From a "bug reporting" standpoint, I set up the poll as "not anonymous", but don't see the names. I know there is supposed to be a "view poll results" button, but either it is not there (for non-moderator user privileges) or I am blind and am just missing it (which is possible, but I looked for a while). I'm using Safari if that matters.
I merged the two threads. As far as seeing who voted, you should be able to click on the number of votes after you have submitted your response and see the results. For example, you can click on "8 votes" and see who all voted for that option.
Thanks very much for merging the threads Jack. Is it possible to change the thread title to "Poll: How do you view "cable" (TV/Movie) content"? So I am blind!!! In my defense, the vote numbers show up in black, so they don't look clickable -- but they do work when you click. Thanks again for your help. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm not having any problem with new posts, but I went back to an old post converted to the new system and found a number of formatting issues. (I apologize if this has been hashed out already; I searched but could not find any discussion of this point.) They seem to be of the general format of R**, where the ** digits can vary, but sometimes seem to insert a random emoji. Here is a quote from the earlier, converted post showing typical formatting issues and one random emoji: ". . . . only one reason — lack of registration. Please check this! My document originally listed another problem (“warning lights” which, . . . ."
