Steve, don't you dare sell it. Manhattan Time Services have just serviced the Gruen Precision Verithin Pentagon pocket watch I inherited from my dad. It's been lying in my bureau since he passed in 1977. He rarely carried it, bought it new in about 1925 so going on a hundred years old. When I use it I will carry it in a coat pocket thus vertical, so I've been checking it in that position and it is within old railroad and COSC standards, gains between 3 and 4 sec/day. They are a father-son business and I would have no hesitation whatever letting them service my Omega Constellation or Rolex 1503.

Check their website; I believe you can watch working video. Here's their contact info.

Thank you very much, Seth. I'm in UK so not practical or cost effective for me to send but will pass on their details to some watch collector friends of mine in US who I know are in need of a good watchmaker.

Having seen it in the flesh I have to say it is a lot better looking in real life than it sometimes shows in pictures (or great drawings, as it were...)

hello, can anyone tell if the body on this 275, 08117, shown in the John Hendy photo is at that point alloy? Thank you

Looks like it has a long rain gutter so I would say yes alloy body.

thank you....so with this photo possible showing 08117 as alloy, what could be the possible explanation as to why Ferrari doesn't have this in their records as being born an Alloy 275? any thoughts?

Not an answer to your question but the Classiche report for the car does state that the body on the car is the original one.

you're right. it does. thats the interesting part of all of this. something has to be wrong somewhere. I don't know obviously, but I wonder if anyone does--- can there be errors like this in original Ferrari documentation? seems like a big omission to not mention in the original Italian paperwork that this 275 is Alloy....since it was a special feature/upgrade when purchasing and building a 275
