After 3 years with my childhood dream car, I have decided to make room for other adventures. Here's a video shot last week by a videographer as a souvenir to myself. 1998 F1 Berlinetta (US car) Exterior Colour: Rosso Corsa Interior Colour: Tan (Beige? Whatever the official name was) Current mileage: 28,400 mi Location: San Jose, CA Last Major Service: Nov 2014 by Mitchell (yelcab). I think it was at 20,000 miles. Total bill $14,000. Asking Price: US$63,000 Noteworthy mechanical/powertrain items: All new spark plugs and Kingsborne wires, coolant hoses, CV boots, etc. with 11/2014 major service F355 Challenge engine mounts with 11/2014 major service New water pump (not a rebuild) with 11/2014 major service All new radiator fans in 12/2014, both L & R (SPAL 30102050 sealed motor version) Fabspeed exhaust headers (ceramic coated) Fabspeed re-cored sport catalytic converters (200-cell/in2 HJS core), inside original shell New Behr thermostat in 2016 New right rear wheel bearing in 2016 (found play in the wheel) New parking brake shoes in 2016, both L & R Hill Engineering wheel bolt sleeves in 2016 (found the originals cracked) Front tires: Pilot Super Sport, date code 2013 Rear tires: Pilot Super Sport, installed 2015 (under my ownership) Records available since Ferrari of Denver major service in 2005 Been serviced at Roselli Foreign Car Repair from 2005 to 2014 Serviced by Roselli and yelcab since 2014 Annual service by Roselli in 2015 Annual service by yelcab in 2016 Absolutely ZERO F1 problems/repairs in my 3 years of ownership (driven with a manual mindset. Clutch bites just as well as the day I bought the car) Car came to me with a Tubi Style Evolution exhaust (fairly common one IMO). Noteworthy cosmetic items: Full paint correction in 2016 at Carbonite Detailing (1-week job). 22ple glass coating applied. Upper dashboard leather replaced in 2015 at Roselli. All sticky plastics refinished, also at Roselli. Climate control panel replaced with SNM overlay, one of the few things I did by myself! Reverse lights replaced with LEDs from SuperBrightLEDs.com to avoid heat damage to lens. Some mild bolster wear on driver's seat as expected for the age and miles I would give the exterior a 9/10, and the interior an 8/10. As a summary, I have brought this car from "Okay driveable" shape to "Mechanically and visually sorted" shape. The car looks splendid on the road as the video shows and I am proud of having brought this car back to near-new condition. More importantly, I have been putting on miles and fixing problems. Pics coming soon. Thanks for looking! In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions.
Chan - if that video is recent, "all sticky parts refinished" does not seem to be the case Sorry - detailed eyes and occupational hazard
Sharp eye. The video was in fact very recent, about 1.5 weeks ago. What you probably saw was the gearshift surround panel (OK, technically the "reverse lever" surround panel in my case!!!). When we refinished the plastic parts, the mechanic found that panel to be broken--a button surround had snapped and was also causing my door lock button to stick. So I ordered a new panel from Ricambi, and had it installed as-is. Just wanted to feel the original finish as it was from factory, and it's quite nice. Even brand new, the finish is a dust magnet! This was done in 12/2015. Give it another 10 years?
Some photos. Ah. The paddles were re-painted in 12/2015, but quickly gained new chips from my fingernails (I have skinny, long fingers beyond the "optimal Italian length"). They feel like metal--the paddles, not my fingernails--so the finish is different. I also need to upload some pics. Ready for the tough crowd. Pumping my arms!
I knew I had forgotten to mention some things. Looks like I can't edit my original post after a certain amount of time. The car has a Capristo exhaust bypass valve installed around 2011-2012.
I sure will. The videographer appears to want me to watch this video in 3 years, and start to weep uncontrollably.
Another thing I forgot: F1 gear display lost a pixel and had been repaired with Ricambi America's express service. At least I felt like it was express service! Anyway, one less thing to worry about.
