I have lived in Central London since 1986 and run several businesses here.It is a safe and civilised city !
I am not for one moment denying that moped crime is a problem.
What I am challenging is the assertion that if moped riders remove their helmets the police will never chase them and that this is official Met policy.
This was a story widely headlined in the UK press some months ago based on one quote regarding the difficulties of policing London which included something along the lines that officers were sometimes reluctant to chase moped riders if they removed their helmets.
If someone can show me the evidence that the Met has instructed all its officers not to chase moped riders without helmets ,fair enough and I will agree that this is ridiculous.

Sorry but where does that say that it is official Met policy not to pursue mopeds if the riders take off their helmets ?

Here's another one that summarises the ridiculousness of the situation. The police are scared to chase these idiots. There are just so many articles about this it's impossible to deny. People in the UK need to compare how things work there now to places like say Spain. These kids wouldn't last 10 seconds with the Police in Spain, they would simply knock them off, helmet or not. The country has gone mad and no one has the bottle to be tough anymore. It's all criminals rights and all that crap.

Look you're not going to find it written anywhere that it's an official policy, okay I'll give you that. They can't turn around to the public and say 'sorry we can't chase anyone without a helmet' but you need to actually pick up on what is going on, and the fear police have about prosecution. Do you know anyone in the Met? You only need to read and look at what is going on to realise no policeman in a pursuit will continue it once a helmet is removed unless the circumstances are extraordinary. They are terrified of being prosecuted if someone dies. You have to compare this to most other countries where the law sides with the police not the criminal. Living in london I'm sure you want to talk your book, but I'm English, I've nothing against London, I lived there for years and loved it but things are out of control now. If you want to get pedantic about it then fine but people need to understand what the real London is like these days. There are dozens of these robberies everyday and if the police had power they would come to a stop within weeks. Does your logic not make you question why there are still so many and why the police haven't been able to properly tackle these types of crime? Clearly the police can't do what they need to be able to do.

Just my opinion of course but there are dozens of European cities I would rather live in now than London. Not something I would have said 15 years ago.

By the way for someone talking about fake news to say there was one quote that led to this is totally inaccurate. There are hundreds of articles about police being reluctant to chase those without helmets. Not that this proves my point but there was a BBC documentary on a year or so back where a pursuit came to an end the second a kid removed his helmet. There are just so many examples, articles, Police interviews, etc that to say this all came from one quote is ludicrous and wrong. This is why I asked you if you had heard of Henry Hicks (and another guy before him, can't remember his name) and the impact it had on police chases and how individual offices now deal with chases and the worries they have.

    Truce !
I don't think we fundamentally disagree and Ferraris are more interesting to debate anyway.
I happen to think London is a fantastic city.It has issues but name a city that does not.
Not sure it means anything but London ranks 20th in the list of the 60 safest cities in the world as compiled by The Economist which uses comparative crime stats as a major factor in rankings.
    Back to 812 Superfasts.

I'll just deal with the thread topic tempting though it is to take the fly........

I've delayed my 812 until later 2019 and am taking the PF first. Decided I'm keeping the family colour for LE's only so going GS or GT although tempted by a new colour called 'Liquid Silver'......

I can’t post the video I have of these fools on scooters due to my lack of IT skills.....I grew up in C London (Belgrave Sq) and it’s not at all the same place it was 10 years ago let alone 30 years ago....at least the city has the best CCTV coverage of any metropolis its size

Absolutely, the Tdf wheels belong to the tdf and the turbine wheels are just "80's weird"

    Those wheels and nothing else

Agree it looks stunning in black and Cdf or GS and to me anyway I think the reason is because the design is so dramatically aggressive with powerful lines everywhere it doesn't need a bold colour.

    I agree.

Bold colors work on the 812 too.

I like the accent stripe on the top of the side crease shown in the atelier thread. ( I wonder how much this option costs.)

Personally I'm speccing the TDF wheels. To me they just "work" like the Challenge Stradale wheels did on 430s.
Not keen on the turbines but the standard wheels are fine.

Has anyone on here specced their Superfast without shields ?
I am doing an old style GT spec and prefer the no shields look but don't think I will be brave enough not to include them when I have to lock down on spec.
