All true the carbs would not comply with modern emission, the point is,they would have introduced the qv engine with fi,from the get go,if mony allowed,(they choose spacer on the existing cyl block,to acc for the longer stroke,as opposed to cast a new one piece block casting)why on earth would a manufacturer at the time develope modern 4 valve heads, then use carbs(they might be sexy now)but back in the mid 80 s? C,mon, with 956,race cars, and the likes all fuelinjected. No argument reg values, the market speaks, not for me to worrie about, but,as stated,10 years from now, lets have this argument again.the "newest"Countach will be almost 40 years old, it will be all about Countach the car, If,at all, there is any interest left in our hobby,

I'd love to compare our posts 10 years from now, if past performance is any indicator of the future (it is) then I haven't fared too badly with my predictions about Lamborghinis (Miuras & Countachs) the past 30 years that I have been involved with them, have I?

Meanwhile I remain quietly confident about the future, and I'm not basing it on guesswork, I'm basing it on documented current market trends, emerging tastes, day-to-day trading, and accumulated data.

It’s nonsense to try to argue or even suggest that a FIQV and an DD will ever be or should be the same price in the collector market. No one with a Miura or S, suggests that it will or should catch up to an SV or that a carbed boxer and a FI boxer are or should be the same value. It’s just ridiculous. And if that’s the discussion of this thread I’m sorry I started it. Bc its nonsense.

The reason I started the thread was because after 20 years of owning a DD, I bought a FIQV. I still have my DD but I wanted a FI car.. Why because it’s nearly the same car as my DD for 1/2 to 1/3 the value of my DD. And That’s AWESOME, bc you can buy a car that is identical in all but a few things for 1/2 the price?? That’s a cause for celebration!! Not some idiotic biased notion on a fabricated wish by a FI owner that it should be as good as a DD. Almost as good, yes of course. As good or as valuable, never. But that’s what makes the FI car so fantastic a value.

I sold my SV, arguable one of the most famous, if not the most famous SV in the world 4870 (thanks Joe!) because I could by a lime green Muira S for less than 1/2 the cost. I actually preferred the eyelashes of the S and I wanted green, and the fact it left me with a big pile of cash was a huge bonus. But I never argued that it should be as valuable as an SV, hell no, I didn’t want it to be!!! Why? Bc the thing wouldn’t be as “cheap” compared to an SV.

So those of you with FI cars like me. Embrace the fact it’s less expensive. You can argue “value” you get for your money. But don’t make silly arguments that it should be the same (it will not) in global collectibility. DD has been and will remain among the most, valuable Countach variants. Always has been always will be.

The FI model, IMHO is arguable the best value out there. Has always been and hopefully will stay that way. Someday a FI Q.V. will be a million dollar car, and a DD will be a 2M car. Relax about the DD and enjoy the best value out there. Now Off soap box. And onto pictures

Our FI car arrived. Now just removing the aweful after-assembly-line modifications the poor lineman at the factory were forced to make to the car to get it into the US, (It’s like they were forced to take the car. It amazes me people left these things on the cars. Anyone ever seen an Mclaren F1 driving around with the US with the Amerispec appendages? Didn’t think so.
Part of the reason FI cars are so low is most have these stupid compliance modifications. My bet is all FIQVs will be brought back to proper state, and this will rise values.

Here is our Image Unavailable, Please Login one owner Countach in amazing original condition

Will post more photos as work progresses

Oh and Joe, I know the DD abbreviation bothers you and that the proper term is Downdraft. But from my last Countach story I hope you appreciate my amusement in the irony of the smaller reference. ;)

Now guys, let’s not talk about the DD and talk FI QVs

    Brilliant post.

I love the fact there is one place where we can indulge on multiple threads of this car we love.
    FI, DD, LP400, Anniversario, S, 5000s, etc...
can’t get enough. Love it. Blessed to live it.

Sorry for the late response. You just switch the air flow meters from side to side. Wasn’t too difficult.

The anniversary’s system from the factory is a nice evolution.

Improved throttle response. Definitely noticeable after driving two cars back to back.

The second set-up with those custom intake tubes probably gains a little bit of power too.
