[ATTACH] Gandini cousins.
It's great that there is a lively discussion on BAT (180+ comments in less than a day). Perhaps there are more Stratos fans in the U.S. than I thought....
Must have been the most watched / followed auction on BaT to date. I think they temporarily broke the website!
Came across this... The Lancia Stratos It seems from at least 2 sources that the car was too damaged to bring back from an incident at a Kenyan Rally, so it was left at a ranch there. Eventually it was put in a storage container and returned to Biela Italy for full restoration at Facetti - a reputable restoration shop. We were unsuccessful in finding any updated pictures of the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It wasn't at Facetti's originally. It was at Sport Auto in Biella. They were working on my Stratos at the time and I looked it over while I was there. I ended up selling a gearbox case and big-valve engine to the guy having this restored. It may have moved to Facetti's place in Milan as the owners of Sport Auto went their separate ways.

Here are three images taken by me in the UK: red car with bumper bar outside a Lancia dealership c.1979; a second red car at the 1979 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, and another with custom wheels at the 1984 Ferrari Owners Club National UK Concours.
