360/430 FUEL PUMP RING NUT TORQUE

    24000rpm F1 Rookie

    the torque in the service manual says 60NM. I did 60nm, After it was torqued down, I noticed the nut isn't as close to the aluminium plate as the pump on the other side, which is still intact since factory.

    am I missing something? I don't feel too safe to leave it like that.

    If the seal on the pump is out of place or the ring nut is not threaded properly it will get to the torque before it tightens down on the pump. You may have to get a new ring nut. You can try threading it on with no pump in place to make sure that it threads on easy all the way down.

    Thank you guys. I did cross threaded the composite ring nut. so a new one is on its way. In the mean time, I used another modena's ring nut, and it torques down very easily and right 1-2 mm up the 8mm nut.
