488 GTO ?

These renderings are always so unimaginative. They simply take prior models like the Speciale and graft the aesthetic onto the current model. It never happens this way. Ferrari is never so backward looking.

I dont know particular about the street cars but I know about the R&D of the GTE/GT3 Race Cars... so the next Generation of the GT Race Cars will be introduced by 2021. So that means that the 488 replacement could be presented in September 2019 (IAA Frankfurt) , first street car deliveries in 2020 and race cars will be homolgated and delivered to teams in 2021. I expect a new platform and engine concept.

Regarding the Race Car situation, from the 458 GT3 Ferrari sold about 110 Cars and Ferrari keep selling successfully the 488 GT3 and this will continue until the 4XX GT3 is available. and the development is ongoing, just launched and introduced the EVO upgrade package for the GTE / GT3 Cars. I dont think the life cycle has come to an end. GT3 Race Car business is quite interessting as Ferraris target is for sure to sell about 100+ Cars and price including options and excl VAT is about 600K EUR.

 

Thanks for the info, I'm sure 498/499 will debut at Frankfurt 2019 or Geneva 2020. Till then, 2018-2019 will be production years for the 488 VS and likely who wants a 488 gtb can order one too, in the same way people would get a 458 while 458 speciale was produced.

Chrixxx, as an automotive engineer I have a question for you.
do you have a rough idea about the downforce in kg @ 200 km/h for 458 GT3/488 GT3? Even not the exact numbers, but an estimate.

Engine base is serial, very few internals, nothing else.

 

So cleaned up and colorized my "GTO" sketch.

Recall this is unsubstantiated WAG, any resemblance to the real real thing is purely coincidental. I did, though, try to incorporate want was gleaned from the spy pics, namely the front end and the fact they will probably revert to air intake on the rear quarter window.

GTB with flaps and gills. Right on target. Be careful though, might get the 812 treatment but I doubt it.

Not unexpected the car may not look like this - as I mentioned it's more an idea for am extreme makeover - but if that's the case, I say "too bad", ha-ha. I think they need a bit of an extreme makeover (though I did leave the doors unchanged!) to keep the interest up on this car until its replacement.

My friend - your previous posts on this and the this time last year on the 812 would indicate you are some kind of an insider, and not just your average dealer/punter. Assuming it isn't going to get you identified or fired, could you give us at least a few concrete ideas about this car?

We have been running on empty tanks for months just speculating anything that comes to our minds after a beer or two

Sorry- not sure why that got cut off. More of a departure from previous hardcore versions. Hard to say. Again, like everyone else, he’s speculating based off of rumors.

 

Im not so sure you are correct. Have a look at the 812 thread and you will notice that Ferr9000 provided quite a bit of information, all of which was very accurate.
