I have a 2006 SLR with 10,100 miles. I love the car, have owned it a while but am now looking at some other cars I would like. Every dealer I've spoken with on a trade wants to rob me blind with their price. I see nothing listed on ebay really nowadays, just 1 at $349k with 2k miles. Mine is black originally but I wrapped it in a matte color, I added some rims to it, but I still have the stock rims. What is the best way to sell a car like this bc the dealers all lowball you so bad Im guessing bc they feel it will be tough to move. Should I just send it to a barett jackson/sothebys type auction or are those no good either? Where do you see these going long term? I love the look of the car but it is a very rough ride for a weekend car, its basically a full blown race car and the wife hates even riding in it thats why I recently picked up a 575.

ah great thanks thats actually the same color combo i have beneath the wrap,I see asking $268k but did it sell for anywhere near that? Most dealers are offering sub $200k on trade I tried 3 times so far to trade it in on F12's and gotten very very bad offers. I was really hoping to do a nearly straight swap of the slr for a 2014/15 F12. I wasn't looking to come out of pocket $70k+

So funny your point about it being a race car. This was considered a comfortable GT 12 years ago when it came out versus its rivals. I remember when I drove one the first time thinking to myself “wow, this is a GT??”. Crazy how much softer the supercars have become.

It's a great car, my wife hates how tough the steering wheel is to turn. It's comfortable but in reality, wife in a dress can't get in. I learned my lesson with these cars bc I wanted a challenge stradale but the 575 is literally the best car for what I want in terms of stylish + comfortable. That is why I'm looking for an f12 it's not my favorite design but it drives so well haha, supercars have indeed come s long way!

I love the SLR. Just wish its back was nicer and transmission a bit better but i assume rentech can help with the latter.

I have always loved the SLR. Always wanted to get one, but never the right car, deal, time, etc. I have an F12 and might consider a trade, but certainly not even up.

2005/2006 with your miles realistically retail in low $200k range, wholesale is indeed in $170k-$190k.
A well maintained 2006 with 30k miles and all records recently sold for $140k at my local MB dealer.

Agreed. As another example, Fantasy Junction has as silver/red (arguably a more in demand color combo) with only 4500 miles is listed for 234K.

Will definitely help to remove the wrap and put the original wheels back on before attempting to sell.

I agree with above remarks about the wrap. My concerns with a wrapped car would be 1. is the seller trying to hide something? and 2. how long has that wrap been on and will there be a chance that the paint peels off as the wrap is removed? Place the original wheels back on, remove the wrap and you'll have a much easier time selling it.

I've searched for an SLR for some time and purchased one few months ago. A 2005 Silver/Red with 985 miles.

Typical SLR buyer/collector will pay top dollar for the right color, mileage and condition. However, they are not looking for one with a wrap and aftermarket wheels. My guess is, based on the color and the mileage, a dealer will offer you something closer to $170,000 rather than $190,000

A dealer in Oregon recently tried to sell his Silver/Red that had been wrapped black, black powder coated wheels, with approx. 10,000 miles. He kept reducing the price down to $185,000 and finally took it off E-Bay, unsold.

I wonder if the SLR would be $400k car today if it came with a manual.

I think it would be, or more. It is not even a DCT or F1 type manual. Just a simple automatic. Now, it is a really good auto, but still an auto.

Just list it online for sale and you'll quickly find out the value.

ebay, cars.com, autotrader... it's pretty easy to sell exotics. Maybe not so easy for such an old one, but I guarantee you'll get enough interest to figure out the real value, which at the end of the day is whatever someone is willing to pay.

BTW - the 331.250 euros equals $406,168.81 US dollars, so one 6,000 KM Roadster has gone over $400K

I have a lot of experience with both. And while I adored the SLR the Stradale is a surgical instrument. Do keep one in mind perhaps for future possibilities.
